KC RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Carolina Panthers

We've now seen Clyde Edwards-Helaire in two games with Le'Veon Bell as a teammate, and neither has been a good experience. CEH has eight and six carries in his two games with Bell, both season lows. He's played 53% and 50% of the offensive snaps with Bell as a teammate, also season lows. He's finished with 63 yards and 31 yards with Bell as a teammate, which (if you're sensing a trend here), are also season lows. To be fair, both games have been a little weird, and two games is a small sample size. But so far, Bell's arrival is bad news for CEH. However, we like CEH as a low-end RB1 this week in a great matchup against the Panthers (No. 28 aFPA). The Panthers have allowed the fifth-most total rushing yards to backs, and the second-most total receiving yards to backs. The game script works in CEH's favor, which is why we like him to have a bounce-back game this week.

KC RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. New York Jets

The addition of Le'Veon Bell had an immediate impact on Clyde Edwards-Helaire. He saw a season-low in offensive snaps (53%), a season-low in touches (9) and a season-low in yards (63). To be fair, this was a strange game for the Chiefs as Kansas City only ran 51 offensive plays due to defensive/special teams scores. CEH still had a solid game, too, with 63 scrimmage yards and a touchdown. It's also worth noting CEH saw four targets compared to Bell's zero. CEH is in low-end RB1 territory this week in a favorable matchup against the Jets.

KC RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Denver Broncos

The Chiefs leaned heavily on Clyde Edward-Helaire last week, giving him a season-high 30 touches (four receptions). He finished with a nice season-high of 169 yards, although he didn't score a touchdown for the fifth consecutive week. Don't expect to see this type of volume moving forward as the Chiefs brought in Le'Veon Bell to this backfield. Until we actually see the Chiefs play, it's impossible to predict how CEH and Bell will split touches. For now, we'd assume CEH will still be heavily involved considering his production. We're projecting around 20 touches for CEH this week and 5-7 touches for Bell.

Perhaps a bigger threat to CEH's value this week is a brutal matchup against the Broncos who are No. 1 in aFPA to running backs. A big reason for that is Denver has only allowed one total touchdown to running backs this season, the fewest in the league. CEH is still a low-end RB1 play this week.

KC RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Buffalo Bills

Clyde Edwards-Helaire saw a season-low 13 touches last week. That was partly because the Chiefs opted for a pass-heavy approach, and partly because CEH only caught three of his eight targets. CEH also played a season-low 60% of the offensive snaps last week, a 13% drop from the week before as Darrel Williams saw an increased workload. The Chiefs are also a rumored destination for Le'Veon Bell, which would obviously cut into CEH's value. As for now, though, CEH is still an RB1 option in Week 6. He gets a pretty average opponent in the Bills, so CEH should be able to produce.

UPDATE: The Chiefs did sign Le'Veon Bell, but we'll address that next week. Bell has to wait a week before playing with the Chiefs due to COVID rules. So for now, CEH's value for this week isn't altered.

KC RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Las Vegas Raiders

The Chiefs are relying on Clyde Edwards-Helaire and no one else in their backfield. The rest of the Chiefs backfield has combined for 24 touches through four games, an average of just six. CEH meanwhile has seen 85 touches, or an average of 21.25 per game. He's also averaging over 100 scrimmage yards per game. His only downfall is he hasn't scored since Week 1, which is surprising considering how often he touches the ball. Even without touchdowns, CEH has been incredibly productive. He gets a favorable matchup this week against the Raiders who have allowed a league-high eight touchdowns to running backs this season. CEH should be viewed as a must-start RB1.

KC RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Patriots

Clyde Edwards-Helaire had 25 touches in Week 3, giving him two 20+ touch games this season. The Chiefs even had Darrel Williams return last week, but CEH easily ran the show. Also, after a 0-catch outing in Week 1, CEH has now caught six and five receptions in his last two games, respectively. He gets a tough matchup against the Patriots this week, who are eighth in aFPA, but we expect CEH to get enough volume to make up for the struggles he may face. We like CEH as a strong RB1 play in Week 4.

KC RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Baltimore Ravens

Clyde Edwards-Helaire had a much less productive game in Week 2 compared to his Week 1 performance, but that was somewhat expected. CEH still played well, finishing with 70 scrimmage yards. And after finishing with no receptions in Week 1, CEH saw eight targets in Week 2, finishing 6-32 as a receiver. CEH draws a tough Week 2 matchup against the Ravens, but he should still be viewed as a lower-end RB1. CEH is the clear starting RB in a high-powered offense. And his increased role as a receiver in Week 2 means if he struggles on the ground against the Ravens, he can still produce as a receiver.
