Scouting report

PHI RB D'Andre Swift - 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
The Eagles traded for D'Andre Swift in the offseason bringing him back to his hometown. Swift started off on fire in Detroit to start last season, and showed how he could be one of the better all-around running backs in the league. One of his biggest strengths is his ability in the passing game and the Eagles should use him in that role for more value in PPR leagues.

Fantasy Downside
Injuries have always been an issue for Swift and that was the case last season. He also will have to split time with newly-acquired Rashaad Penny. So there is a good chance he will be involved but the Eagles offense won't run through Swift.

2023 Bottom Line
Swift has much more value in PPR leagues as he is projected to have 45+ receptions, but splitting time with Penny will limit his rushing production. Swift ranks a solid RB3 who has an ADP in the seventh or eighth round. He is a very good third running back for your roster.

DET RB D'Andre Swift - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Chicago Bears

Surprisingly, D'Andre Swift ended up with just 25 yards on five touches and has now gone without a touchdown in three straight games. Only one reception is quite surprising considering Detroit has to throw quite a bit against Carolina and Jamaal Williams left early with an injury. Williams looks good for Week 17, but Swift should still bounce back against the Bears and see more targets, putting him in the RB2/Flex range this week for the finals.

DET RB D'Andre Swift - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Carolina Panthers

You're starting to see D'Andre Swift get more involved in the offense now that he looks to be all the way past his early-season injury. He posted 75 total yards and tied a season-high with five catches last week against the Jets. With the Lions finding enough room for both Swift and Jamaal Williams in the offense, both have enough value to be solid flex plays in a favorable matchup this week against the Panthers, among the bottom half of the league in rushing defense. Swift gives you more value in the passing game.

DET RB D'Andre Swift - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at New York Jets

D'Andre Swift went back to a small rushing output, but he did catch three passes, giving him 14 over the last four weeks. That seems to be Swift's role at this point, getting involved in the passing game while Jamaal Williams handles the rushing and early-down work. Both can have value in fantasy as a result, but they face a tough Jets defense. One key to watch for, Jets star DT Quinnen Williams has missed practice this week and there's wonder if he'll play Sunday. That would change the complexion a bit for Swift. Consider him a flex option this week.

DET RB D'Andre Swift - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Minnesota Vikings

D'Andre Swift finally looks fully healthy and saw his most work since returning from injury. In fact, he tied his season-high with 18 touches and had over 100 total yards for just the second time this season. Detroit looks ready to start giving the reigns back to Swift, but you always have to be wary of the red-zone and goal-line work going to Jamaal Williams. Still, Swift has worked his way back to low-end RB1 status. He also has 20 catches in the six games since he returned to the lineup.

DET RB D'Andre Swift - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Lions may finally be working D'Andre Swift back into the offense more. He had seven targets in the passing game and his 9 touches were his most since returning to action in Week 8. Jamaal Williams has obviously taken a hold of the rushing attack and red-zone work, but Swift is the pass-catching back. He has 16 catches since returning five weeks ago and 24 catches for the season. Swift is a flex option, maybe low-end RB2 this week against a Jaguars team that has been pretty giving to opposing running backs.

DET RB D’Andre Swift - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Buffalo Bills

Two straight games with a touchdown for D’Andre Swift. He’s still being limited in the offense as he still may not be 100 percent, but is still dynamic when he is on the field. Against the Bills, Swift should be considered a flex option if the Lions continue to limit his touches and with Jamaal Williams getting more touches and seeing red-zone work.
