DET RB D'Andre Swift - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Eagles

Swift continues to impress, especially in the passing game, catching 8-of-10 targets for 96 yards, including an impressive 63-yard touchdown. He also added 48 rushing yards on 13 carries. Currently RB9 in half-PPR points per game, Swift has established himself as an RB1 because of his elite production as a receiver.

Swift goes up against an Eagles defense that ranks 28th in aFPA to running backs, making this a smash spot for the dynamic second-year back. Look for Swift to continue to be the focal point of this offense. There's a good chance that he'll set a season-high in rushing yards in this spot. Fire him up with confidence.

DET RB D'Andre Swift - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Rams

Swift continues to produce at an RB1 level despite playing in a dumpster fire of an offense. He's become a textbook example of why targets are worth so much more than carries, catching 34-of-42 targets for 295 yards and a touchdown this season. He's thriving in garbage time, as the Lions continue to feed him touches despite being down multiple scores late in games.

Swift goes up against a Rams defense that ranks 14th in aFPA to running backs, but he's matchup-proof because of his passing game usage. We're likely to see Jared Goff pepper Swift with dump-offs as the Lions try to play catch-up as 15-point underdogs. Swift is an every-week RB1.

DET RB D'Andre Swift - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Bengals

Swift continues to get the most valuable touches, putting up 35 targets (2nd among RBs) and 11 red-zone carries (tied for 16th). He's currently RB12 in half-PPR formats, establishing himself as one of the best values in fantasy drafts after consistently slipping to the third or fourth round. Swift needs to be considered an RB1 moving forward because of his heavy usage in the passing game.

Swift goes up against a Bengals defense that ranks 20th in aFPA to running backs, so this is an exploitable matchup. If tight end T.J. Hockenson is forced to miss this game, we could see Swift get even more volume in the passing game. Look for the dynamic second-year back to have another strong performance in this spot.

DET RB D'Andre Swift - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Vikings

Swift had a poor week in production against the Bears, but you have to love the volume. The dynamic second-year back played 73.2% of the snaps with a 16.22% target share, while Jamaal Williams was limited to 29.6% of the snaps with zero targets. While Williams will continue to play a role, Swift gets high-value touches: targets (29) and red-zone carries (10).

He faces a Vikings defense that ranks 13th in aFPA to running backs, but they also are 23rd in rush DVOA while allowing 4.83 yards per carry (27th). This projects as a high-scoring game, so there's a chance that Swift can hit his ceiling in this spot. The Lions should be able to move the ball against this defense, so we can fire up Swift as an RB1.

DET RB D'Andre Swift - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Bears

Swift has surpassed expectations so far, ranking as RB3 in half-PPR points. The dynamic second-year back is second among running backs in targets with 23. This kind of usage in the passing game not only gives him a high floor but a high ceiling as well. It was also encouraging to see Swift get a season-high in usage last week, where he put up 21 touches. There has been talk that Swift will continue to see an increased workload going forward, which is really interesting considering how good he's been so far.

Swift goes up against a Bears defense that ranks 9th in aFPA to running backs, so this is a tough matchup on the ground. However, Swift's usage in the passing game helps mitigate any potential inefficiency on the ground. This is a player who leads his team with a 19.33% target share. He needs to be considered as a matchup-proof RB1 going forward. Don't worry about this Bears defense.

DET RB D'Andre Swift - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Ravens

Swift has been as good as advertised in the passing game, leading running backs with 16 targets. While he's shared time with Jamaal Williams, the second-year back out of Georgia has played over 66% of the snaps so far. Swift is the 1A in this backfield and offers much more upside, especially with the Lions projected to be playing from behind often this season. We can expect Swift to be among the leaders in targets for running backs all year long.

Swift goes up against a Ravens defense that has been stout against the run, allowing only 2.78 yards per carry (3rd in NFL). However, Swift's skill set makes him immune to these types of matchups because he's able to do some damage in the passing game. We can project this dynamic back to rack up some check-downs in this game with the team playing from behind. I would expect his role to continue to grow as the season progresses and there's a chance that it starts with this game. Consider Swift an upside RB2 in this spot.

DET RB D'Andre Swift - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Packers

Swift was expected to take a backseat to Jamaal Williams in Week 1, but that wasn't the case, as the dynamic second-year back out-snapped Williams 68.48% to 34.78%. Swift finished with 39 yards on 11 carries while catching 8-of-11 targets for 65 yards and a touchdown, ranking as RB5 in half-PPR for the week. This is one of the best receiving backs in football who should see a ton of usage in the passing game, especially with Goff loving to check it down to his running back.

Swift gets another positive game-script here, as the Lions project to fall behind in this game, which could lead to more checkdowns from Goff to Swift as the Lions try to play catch-up. This Packers defense ranked 27th in aFPA to running backs last season, which makes it an even better spot for Swift. He looks like a high upside RB2 in this matchup.
