Scouting report

CHI WR D.J. Moore - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Los Angeles Rams
Moore was understandably coming off draft boards as a WR2, and that's likely where he belongs on a week-by-week basis. Keenan Allen will likely be limited in Week 4, which could open up a little more work for Moore, giving him a possible third-straight double-digit target game. Caleb Williams and Moore have missed on a lot of intermediate passes to this point, but he's still earned 28 targets to this point. He's a WR2 in Week 3 but could pop up for a WR1 week sooner rather than later.

CHI WR D.J. Moore - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 @ Indianapolis Colts
Moore was understandably coming off draft boards as a WR2, and that's likely where he belongs on a week-by-week basis. Keenan Allen will be missing Week 3, while Rome Odunze has cleared injury reports but looks like he may need some time to round into form. Caleb Williams and Moore have missed on a lot of intermediate passes to this point, but he's still earned 18 targets to this point. He's a WR2 in Week 3 but could pop up for a WR1 week sooner rather than later.

CHI WR D.J. Moore - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 @ Houston Texans
Moore was understandably coming off draft boards as a WR2, and that's likely where he belongs. Keenan Allen is a threat to him leading the team in targets for a second year in a row, but there's no way they'll be taking Moore off the field for anybody, Allen and Rome Odunze included. Moore should instantly be William's No. 1 downfield target, and WR1 weeks are certainly not out of the question. His floor gets an even larger boost with Odunze looking like he could miss Week 2.

Week 1 vs. Tennessee Titans
Moore was understandably coming off draft boards as a WR2, and that's likely where he belongs. Keenan Allen is a threat to him, leading the team in targets for a second year in a row, but there's no way they'll be taking Moore off the field for anybody, Allen and Odunze included. Moore should instantly be William's No. 1 downfield target, and WR1 weeks are certainly not out of the question.

CHI WR D.J. Moore - 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
D.J. Moore had a career year in his first season in Chicago, setting new career highs across the board, including 96 receptions, 1,364 yards, and 8 touchdowns. His 2.31 yards per route run boosted him into the top 15 of the position, and his efficiency made him fantasy's overall WR6. All of this with an offense crumbling around him. Things look better from an offensive environment in 2024, with a presumable upgrade at quarterback and more skill position talent, which should make things more cohesive.

Fantasy Downside
Unlike during Moore's 2023 blow-up, he now has very real target competition with the addition of veteran Keenan Allen and rookie Rome Odunze. The team also added a new running back (D'Andre Swift) and tight end (Gerald Everett), which could further squeeze his raw target numbers. While the offense looks better on paper, let us not forget that Caleb Williams is still a rookie quarterback and could run into some growing pains in Year 1.

2024 Bottom Line
Moore is understandably coming off draft boards as a WR2, and that's likely where he belongs. Keenan Allen is a threat to him, leading the team in targets for a second year in a row, but there's no way they'll be taking Moore off the field for anybody, Allen and Odunze included. Moore should instantly be William's No. 1 downfield target, and WR1 weeks are certainly not out of the question.

CHI WR D.J. Moore - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Atlanta Falcons

D.J. Moore put up a dud last week, finishing 3-18 on six targets. Moore suffered an ankle injury early in the game, and although he was able to return, he appeared somewhat limited. He avoided the Bears' injury report this week, though, so he should be good to go against the Falcons (11th aFPA). Expect a bounce back game from Moore as he should get back to posting his usual numbers. Moore is averaging 76.1 yards per game this season and is still a strong option despite his poor outing last week. He should be viewed as a solid WR2 option for Week 17.

CHI WR D.J. Moore - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Arizona Cardinals

Justin Fields and the Bears offense as a whole struggled last week, so D.J. Moore only put up modest numbers, finishing 4-52 on eight targets. It still wasn't a bad game, and shows Moore's floor is pretty high as he's had at least 50 receiving yards in 11 of his 14 games this season. Moore has a better matchup this week against the Cardinals (13th aFPA). Arizona has given up the 8th-most total receiving touchdowns to WRs this season. Moore should be viewed as a must-start WR1 in Week 16.
