SEA WR DK Metcalf - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs Los Angeles Rams

D.K. Metcalf is yet to practise this week and must be seen on the doubtful side of questionable to suit up against the Rams. If he does play, he should probably be seen as a low-end WR2 option in a matchup against a team that ranks ninth in aFPA to wide receivers.

SEA WR DK Metcalf - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Atlanta Falcons

D.K. Metcalf’s cold spell continued into Week 6, with a mere 6.3 Half-PPR points on his way to WR49 for the week. Metcalf has now dropped outside of the top 24 in points per game, sitting at WR26.

Metcalf might be able to bounce back this week with a clash against the Falcons, who have been middling opponents for wide receivers this season. The Falcons rank 17th in aFPA to wideouts, which should help Metcalf get back to high-end WR2/low-end WR1 airspace.

SEA WR DK Metcalf - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs San Francisco 49ers/strong>

D.K. Metcalf is, like his fantasy managers and Geno Smith enthusiasts, waiting for the touchdown regression to take hold in 2024. Smith is averaging career-highs in receptions and yards per game, but with only two touchdowns so far he's averaging only 12.8 Half-PPR points per game, good for WR18 in points per game.

This might be the week for Metcalf, with the 49ers a middling foe for wide receivers in 2024, ranking 14th in aFPA to the position. Metcalf looks like someone who should be in the WR1 airspace this week.

SEA WR DK Metcalf - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. New York Giants/strong>

Week 4 was something of a disappointing week for D.K. Metcalf in fantasy terms. Metcalf cleared 100 yards receiving on seven catches, but without a trip to the endzone, he could only muster 11.9 Half PPR points, finishing as the WR29 for the week.

We can expect a bounceback in Week 5 against the Giants, who haven't exactly shut down the opposition wide receivers this season. The G Men rank 11th in aFPA to the position. Metcalf should return to WR1 airspace this week.

SEA WR DK Metcalf - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Detroit Lions

D.K. Metcalf only saw six targets against the Seahawks but he turned them into four grabs and 104 yards, with a 71-yard touchdown for good measure. He finished as the WR9 in Half PPR formats and is starting to look like an asset to his fantasy managers.

The good times should keep rolling this week, with a plumb matchup against the Lions. Metcalf projects as a mid-tier WR1 in what should be an exciting back-and-forth encounter.

SEA WR DK Metcalf - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs Miami Dolphins
The D.K. Metcalf explosion game we’ve all been waiting for came in Week 2 against the Patriots. Benefiting from an increase in pass volume, Metcalf caught 10 of his 14 targets for 129 yards and a touchdown, giving him 23.9 Half PPR points and the WR2 spot for the week.

The Miami pass defense has been stingy toward wideouts so far in 2024, ranking 31st in receptions and 23rd in yards allowed. Still, if the Seahawks remain committed to the pass Metcalf should see enough work to keep him in the low-end WR1 / high-end WR2 mix.

SEA WR DK Metcalf - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at New England Patriots

With the Seahawks only attempting 25 passes in Week 1, it was going to be a struggle for the receiving weapons in this offense to make much fantasy noise. This was certainly the case for D.K. Metcalf, who converted his four targets into three catches for 29 yards for 4.4 Half PPR points. Metcalf finished as the WR62 in that format.

A commitment to low passing volume will hurt Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, even in games where the matchup appears to suit them, like this one against the Patriots. The uncertainty around opportunity makes it hard to trust any of these pass catchers, and that's why Metcalf should only be projected to be a low-end WR2 this week.
