2022 Fantasy Upside
When we talk about DK Metcalf, we still think of the freakish athletic ability and scoring upside. Metcalf had almost 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns last year, giving him 29 touchdowns in three seasons. He should also be motivated as he enters a contract year. Despite what felt like a down year at times, Metcalf still finished as WR12 last season.
2022 Fantasy Downside
Russell Wilson is in Denver now and there’s no telling who the starting quarterback will be, though most expect Geno Smith to beat out Drew Lock. His numbers also took a bit of a dive in the second half of the season. Eight of his 12 touchdowns came in the first eight games of the season. Metcalf is also hoping to bounce back from having only one game above 100 yards last season and only two games with at least 60 yards in his last nine games.
2022 Bottom Line
The fantasy outlook for Metcalf and the Seattle offense would likely look better if Smith beats out Lock. But the constant upside we always talk about with Metcalf and the hope for a new contract could produce another strong season for him, making him a solid WR2 option, currently No. 21 on our WR board.
