Scouting report

NYJ WR Garrett Wilson - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs Denver Broncos

Garrett Wilson has been averaging 8.7 targets per game. He's turned that workload into 5 receptions for 50 yards per game.

The Jets host the Denver Broncos at MetLife Stadium this week. We project him to score 13.5 fantasy points, making him the 14th-ranked wide receiver and a lock for your lineup as a strong WR2.

NYJ WR Garrett Wilson - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs New England Patriots

Garrett Wilson turned his 11 targets into six catches for 60 yards against San Francisco then backed that up with a four-catch, 57-yard performance in Week 2. He's yet to find the end zone. The offense is going to have to shift a bit if they're going to support Wilson and Breece Hall as top fantasy options. Through two weeks they've only run three plays from inside their opponent's 10-yard line.

He's WR11 this week and should be in all lineups but his fantasy managers are definitely hoping for some trips to the end zone.

NYJ WR Garrett Wilson - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at Tennessee Titans

Garrett Wilson comes into the week as our WR8. He seemed to catch the eye of Aaron Rodgers given his 11 targets. Wilson converted six of those into catches for 60 yards.

There's no question you're starting Wilson in all formats.

NYJ WR Garrett Wilson - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at San Francisco 49ers

Garrett Wilson had nearly 100 receptions last year despite the carousel of quarterbacks he dealt with. The arrow is pointing up on him with Aaron Rodgers' return. Wilson had at least seven targets in all but three games last season. The biggest knock on him was that he only found the end zone three times, but there weren't many touchdowns to go around in New York last season.

Wilson is our WR7 this week so unless you're in a two-person league, he should absolutely be in your lineups.

NYJ WR Garrett Wilson - 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

Garrett Wilson checks in as our WR7 heading into the season. We have him projected for over 1,100 yards on just under 90 receptions. Wilson has been saddled with brutal quarterback play across the first two years of his career. If he can gain Aaron Rodgers' trust in the red zone it's not hard to see how his projection of six touchdowns could be low. Wilson only has seven touchdowns in his career thus far but if he can get closer to double-digit scores in his third year we could be looking at a Top 5 finish.

Fantasy Downside

Outside of injury, his downside case is tied to a Breece Hall explosion in 2024. From a team philosophy perspective, it's easy to envision the Jets leaning heavily on the run game. The emphasis on the running backs could dry up scoring opportunities for Wilson. He could fall out of the Top 10 at the position if he sees a dip of just 8-10 receptions.

2024 Bottom Line

All signs point to Wilson paying off his ADP given a healthy Rodgers. He has shown that he can make plays all over the field. Wilson looks well on his way to another 1,000-yard season and a top fantasy finish.

NYJ WR Garrett Wilson - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Cleveland Browns
Garrett Wilson was targeted a season-high 15 times last week and that produced nine receptions for 76 yards. It was his eighth double-digit target game of 2023. He continues to be the main focus in the Jets passing game no matter who the quarterback is.

Wilson will face the Browns who are ranked 17th in aFPA to wide receivers. We expect plenty of targets again this week, but the production could be held down as Cleveland is playing their best defense of the season.

Start Wilson as a high-end WR3 or Flex for Week 17. Expect the Browns to focus on Smith so his ranking isn't as high as in recent games, even with the amount of targets.

NYJ WR Garrett Wilson - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Washington Commanders
It was a rough game for the Jets offense as they were shut out last week and Garrett Wilson was held to three receptions for 29 yards. It doesn't really matter who the quarterback is at this point for New York. The offense is more likely to struggle each week.

Wilson faces the Commanders who are ranked 31st in aFPA to wide receivers. The matchup definitely helps his stock as Washington's defense has been bad this season.

Start Wilson as low-end WR2 for Week 16. Obviously, this is more of a reflection of the Jets than him, but he does have value this week to help team managers out.
