PHI TE Grant Calcaterra - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Washington Commanders

Grant Calcaterra got off to a fast start against the Steelers with a 22-yard reception on the Birds' first offensive play. That was unfortunately the beginning and the end of his involvement in the receiving game. Calcaterra remains the lead tight end in the absence of Dallas Goedert, but the Eagles don't seem all that interested in making their passing game a three-way street. The Commanders have been vulnerable to tight ends and rank 28th in aFPA to the position. But expecting anything more than low-end TE2 numbers from Calcaterra would send you into Christmas in a bad mood.

PHI TE Grant Calcaterra - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs Pittsburgh Steelers

Grant Calcaterra managed three receptions for 16 yards in Week 14 but a touchdown helped him post a decent stat line for a tight end. He’s a low-end TE2 option this week in an Eagles passing game that doesn’t want to pass going up against a Steelers team that ranks eighth in aFPA to tight ends.

PHI TE Grant Calcaterra - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs Carolina Panthers

Dallas Goedert’s knee injury looks like a week-to-week proposition, meaning an increased workload for Grant Calcaterra in the Eagles offense. Calcaterra has commanded a 16.7% target share in games without Goedert this season, but this has translated to roughly three targets per game. The Panthers are a welcome sight for tight ends and rank 30th in aFPA to the position, but this is unlikely to be enough to propel Calcaterra above mid-tier TE2 airspace this week.

PHI TE Grant Calcaterra - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs Jacksonville Jaguars

Grant Calceterra wasn’t a complete nothing for the Eagles in Week 8, scoring 7.3 Half-PPR points, but he is only averaging 3.5 points per game this season and likely needs something to go wrong for A.J. Brown AND DeVonta Smith before he only must fend off Saquon Barkley for a larger role in the offense. It’s a shame, as the Jaguars rank 30th in aFPA to tight ends. But It’s hard to project Calcaterra as anything more than TE3 option in Week 9, maybe a tad higher if he were to luck into a touchdown.

PHI TE Grant Calcaterra - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Cincinnati Bengals

Dallas Goedert looks set to miss another game for the Eagles, leaving Grant Calcaterra to pick up the pieces at tight end for the Eagles. However, if you are in need of help at the tight end spot in fantasy football this week, then you should probably look elsewhere. The Bengals present a fabulous opportunity for tight end scoring, as they rank 30th in aFPA to tight ends this season. But in two games in which Calcaterra has stood in for Goedert, h3 averages just 4.8 Half-PPR points per game. That’s not going to get it done.

PHI TE Grant Calcaterra - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at New York Giants

An early injury to Dallas Goedert thrust Grant Calcaterra into an extended role against the Browns in Week 6. To his credit, he responded well, posting 8.7 Half-PPR points on his way to TE11 for the week.

Goedert looks unlikely to play against the Giants, so Calcaterra should be the Eagles' first option at tight end. He won’t play as many snaps as Goedert given his lack of blocking prowess, but he’s the best receiver among the remaining Eagles tight ends. He’s not likely to eat in A.J. Brown or DeVonta Smith’s workload too much. The Giants rank 12th in aFPA to tight ends in 2024, which allied to limited opportunities for Calcaterra makes it hard to project him as anything above a backend TE2 in Week 7.
