In the first four weeks of the 2023 season, Hunter Henry cleared 50 yards three times and scored two touchdowns, though he didn’t catch another touchdown until Week 9 and didn’t clear 50 yards again until Week 15. He finished as the TE15, catching 42 passes for 419 yards and six scores in 14 games. Re-signing with the Patriots probably wasn’t a best-case scenario for his fantasy value, though he should remain the team’s starter and could work his way into TE2 territory if the Patriots are able to get better quarterback play out of Drake Maye and/or Jacoby Brissett.

Patriots RB Antonio Gibson (hip) is questionable for Sunday's game vs. Cincinnati, while TE Hunter Henry has been removed from the report and is good to go.

Fantasy Impact:

Outside of two rookies (Ja'Lynn Polk, Javon Baker), New England doesn't have much firepower, which could equate to Henry leading the team in targets in a handful of weeks. In what may have been a high-scoring affair, the Bengals might be missing both Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, which dampens most Patriots options.

Consider Henry a deep target in 2TE leagues.

NE TE Hunter Henry - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at Cincinnati Bengals

Hunter Henry should be an active part of the Patriots passing game in 2024, which we should celebrate even if the passing game isn't something we want to get too excited about from a fantasy point of view. Still, he could make some fantasy noise in Week 1 against a Bengals team that could not stop tight ends in 2023. The Bengals gave up the most receptions and second most yards to the position last season and ranked 31st in aFPA. Henry could have some streamer appeal in deeper leagues, but it's hard to see him amassing more than mid-level TE2 numbers.
