Fantasy Upside
Levine Toilolo was targeted just 54 times in 2014 while hauling in 31 passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns. He also dropped four of those 54 targets and never materialized as a red-zone threat for Matt Ryan despite his 6-foot-8 height. In steps Jacob Tamme, who was signed this offseason to give the tight end position a boost in Atlanta. The veteran has only caught 34 passes over the past two seasons combined but he figures to be the pass-catching tight end in new OC Kyle Shanahan's offense. And given Shanahan's penchant for using tight ends, Tamme could carve out a nice role for himself this season. The savvy route runner still has a knack for finding soft spots in zones.
Fantasy Downside
The Atlanta offense will run through Julio Jones and Shanahan figures to put more emphasis on the running game, which leaves limited opportunities for Tamme. His 52-catch effort in 2012 is well in the rearview mirror and even given Shanahan's fondness for tight ends, Tamme figures to be nothing more than a role player in the Falcons' offense.
Bottom Line
Tamme projects to finish with 38 receptions for 363 yards and 2-3 touchdowns in 2015. If you're relying on Tamme to be anything more than a bye week replacement then your team is in trouble.
