Scouting report

WAS WR Jahan Dotson - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at New York Giants

Jahan Dotson got some nice cardio in last week as he played on 80% of the team's offensive snaps, but finished with a goose egg. Dotson only saw a single target in what was the height of his disappointing season. Dotson's season high in receiving yards is just 40 as he's averaging 23.3 yards per game. Dotson is becoming increasingly more difficult to trust each week. Outside of Week 6, he's been getting a decent amount of targets, but the production simply isn't there. He'll be a risky WR4 in Week 7 against the Giants (13th aFPA).

WAS WR Jahan Dotson - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Atlanta Falcons

Jahan Dotson saw seven targets last week and actually set season highs in receptions and yards, finishing 5-40. The fact that five catches and 40 yards are season highs for Dotson is a good indicator of how his year has gone this far, which isn't great. He's been involved in the offense as he's just one target off from leading the team in that category, but his 28.0 yards per game is leaving a lot to be desired. He'll be a mid-range WR4 in a tough matchup vs. the Falcons (3rd aFPA) this week.

WAS WR Jahan Dotson - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs Chicago Bears

Jahan Dotson saw a season-high nine targets last week and finished 4-27-1. His touchdown saved his otherwise lackluster effort as Dotson once again struggled to get yards. His season high this year is 40, and in the other three games he's been held below 30 yards receiving. We'll see if he can turn things around this week in a matchup against a bad Bears defense. He's been limited in practice with an ankle injury, but he's expected to play. Dotson should be viewed as a mid-tier WR3 option for Week 5.

WAS WR Jahan Dotson - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Philadelphia Eagles

Jahan Dotson has been one of the biggest busts in fantasy this season. He was projected as a sleeper by many, but so far has turned in stat lines of 5-40, 3-22 and 2-21. He's averaging just 27.7 yards per game with no touchdowns through three games. We'll see if he can bounce back this week against an Eagles defense giving up the 8th-most fantasy points to wide receivers this season. But his production so far this year has been a major concern. He should be viewed as a mid-tier WR3 option in Week 4.

WAS WR Jahan Dotson - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs Buffalo Bills

Jahan Dotson hasn't quite lived up to the hype in 2023. Through two games his stat lines so far have been 5-40 and 3-22. The good news, at least, is he's been playing a lot, seeing at least 85% of the offensive snaps in back-to-back games. Fantasy owners will be hoping that eventually pays off into a little more production. This week, Dotson gets a fairly tough matchup against the Bills. Buffalo has given up the 6th-fewest fantasy points to wide receivers so far this season. We like Dotson in the WR3 range for Week 3.

WAS WR Jahan Dotson - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Denver Broncos

Jahan Dotson was second on the team in targets (7) last week, as No. 1 surprisingly went to Logan Thomas. Dotson was fairly productive, finishing 5-40. Dotson played on 87% of the offensive snaps as he and Terry McLaurin played most of the game. Dotson gets a tough matchup this week as he faces the Broncos, who gave up the 4th-fewest fantasy points to WRs last season. He's still a decent option, but the matchup is concerning. Dotson should be viewed as a WR3 option for Week 2.

WAS WR Jahan Dotson - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Arizona Cardinals

Jahan Dotson's overall numbers in his rookie season may not look impressive, but given the context with his injury, he actually had really strong numbers. He averaged 4.2 receptions for 68.8 yards and 0.6 touchdowns in the final five games of the season. Heading into 2023, Dotson should get more consistent QB play with Sam Howell. Plus, Terry McLaurin is dealing with an injury which could lead to a few more targets for Dotson. In Week 1, Dotson faces a poor Cardinals defense and should be a solid contributor. He should be viewed as a strong WR2 play to begin the year.
