Fantasy Upside
Jaleel McLaughlin finished his UDFA rookie campaign with 5.4 YPC, 3.38 yards created after contact, and a 27.6% breakaway rate, regularly out-performing his backfield mates on a per-touch basis. He's in an ambiguous RB situation in Denver right now and is heavily discounted, making him an intriguing boom/bust option deep in drafts.
Fantasy Downside
On a per-touch basis, McLaughlin was fantastic last season, but he hit the scales at 187 pounds and logged more than 20 offensive snaps in only two games while being tasked as a pass-blocker on only six. Six snaps the entire season. The sophomore's burst and explosiveness are a treat to see, but his week-to-week ceiling is practically non-existent in a loaded backfield.
2024 Bottom Line
Even if the Broncos end up moving on from Samaje Perine or Javonte Williams —which looks less likely by the day— it's hard to envision a scenario in which McLaughlin earns an every-down load. He's nearly undraftable in redraft leagues as it stands.
