DEN RB Jaleel McLaughlin - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 @ New York Jets
Jaleel McLaughlin found the end zone in Week 3 to finally crack 5+ fantasy points, but he accrued 14 yards from scrimmage altogether, just one week after notching six. On top of all this, the Jets defensive line figures to terrorize the Broncos offense, rendering McLaughlin completely unplayable.

DEN RB Jaleel McLaughlin - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The good news for Jaleel McLaughlin was the team moving on from Perine, but the rotational back on a bad offense still isn't something to get excited about. McLaughlin is going to bust big plays from time to time, but his touch share shouldn't be enough to mess with it in Week 3, particularly after his three-opportunity performance last week.

DEN RB Jaleel McLaughlin - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
The good news for Jaleel McLaughlin was the team moving on from Perine, but the rotational back on a bad offense still isn't something to get excited about. McLaughlin is going to bust big plays from time to time but his touch share shouldn't be enough to mess with it in Week 2.

Week 1 @ Seattle Seahawks
The good news for Jaleel McLaughlin was the team moving on from Perine, but the rotational back on a bad offense still isn't something to get excited about. McLaughlin is going to bust big plays from time to time but his touch share shouldn't be enough to mess with it in Week 1.

DEN RB Jaleel McLaughlin - 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Jaleel McLaughlin finished his UDFA rookie campaign with 5.4 YPC, 3.38 yards created after contact, and a 27.6% breakaway rate, regularly out-performing his backfield mates on a per-touch basis. He's in an ambiguous RB situation in Denver right now and is heavily discounted, making him an intriguing boom/bust option deep in drafts.

Fantasy Downside
On a per-touch basis, McLaughlin was fantastic last season, but he hit the scales at 187 pounds and logged more than 20 offensive snaps in only two games while being tasked as a pass-blocker on only six. Six snaps the entire season. The sophomore's burst and explosiveness are a treat to see, but his week-to-week ceiling is practically non-existent in a loaded backfield.

2024 Bottom Line
Even if the Broncos end up moving on from Samaje Perine or Javonte Williams —which looks less likely by the day— it's hard to envision a scenario in which McLaughlin earns an every-down load. He's nearly undraftable in redraft leagues as it stands.

DEN RB Jaleel McLaughlin - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Los Angeles Chargers
Jaleel McLaughlin had a slight spike in usage in Week 16 when he saw five targets and six carries, but still only managed 67 scoreless yards. McLaughlin is part of a committee backing up Javonte Williams with Samaje Perine, and now the Broncos are transitioning to offseason-mode by benching Russell Wilson in favor of Jarrett Stidham to preserve a lower cap hit following Wilson's eventual release. The Denver offense is at risk of total incompetence the next two weeks with Stidham starting, meaning McLaughlin cannot be considered for fantasy championship matchups.

DEN RB Jaleel McLaughlin - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Cleveland Browns
Jaleel McLaughlin was used primarily as a pass catcher in Week 11. He only got one carry but did catch five balls on five targets. At the end of the day, McLaughlin is well behind Javonte Williams in the pecking order within the Denver backfield and has not turned in a usable fantasy week since Williams was out in Week 5. Now the Broncos face off with the Browns' elite defense in Week 12, which reinforces the fact that McLaughlin is not a realistic fantasy starter in his current setup.
