Scouting report

DAL TE Jason Witten - Week 8, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs Seattle
The good news is Jason Witten seems to be QB Matt Cassel's favorite target. He caught six passes for 73 yards, but Dez Bryant should return this week so that could change.

Witten comes to work every week and delivers consistent numbers, no matter who the quarterback is. And this week, the Cowboys play a very good defense, but Seattle hasn't been great against tight ends ranking 30th in aFPA. There are lots of factors in Witten's status, but he really rates as a low-end TE1 for Week 8 and might even be worth sitting if you have a better tight end option.

DAL TE Jason Witten - Week 7, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs New York Giants

Jason Witten continues to stay consistent, although the 33 receiving yards two weeks ago was a season-low. Even though there is a quarterback change, we expect Witten's numbers to basically stay the same.

He is very reliable and is still a red zone threat even though he has not had a TD reception since Week 1. He also has a great matchup as the Giants are 30th in aFPA to tight ends. Start him in all league as a low-end TE1 for Week 7.

DAL TE Jason Witten - Week 5, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs New England
Jason Witten's numbers have been consistent, but that's not necessarily a good thing. When Tony Romo went down, you figured Brandon Weeden would lean on the veteran, but it just hasn't been the case. He has zero touchdowns since Week 1 and saw a season-low 6 targets last week. This is not to say his numbers are bad for a tight end. Maybe things will change this week with a very good matchup against New England, who is 27th in aFPA to tight ends. Start Witten as a solid TE1 in all leagues and formats.

DAL TE Jason Witten - Week 4, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at New Orleans

Despite injuries, Jason Witten kept his playing streak alive and continued to be a solid contributor to the Cowboys offense. His numbers haven't been eye-catching this season, just consistent.

It will help his value this week as he plays the Saints who are 31st in aFPA to tight ends. Even though there are question marks with the quarterback and the passing game, Witten remains a solid TE1 for Week 4. It would be a bonus if he can get back in the end zone, something he did twice in Week 1 with Tony Romo.

DAL TE Jason Witten - Week 3, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs Falcons

Jason Witten continues to be a constant in the Cowboys lineup. He has 15 catches for 116 yards and two touchdowns to start the season, so the numbers are still there. However, he is banged up right now with knee and hamstring issues. Don't worry though. Witten has played in 189 straight games and we expect him on the field Sunday against Atlanta.

It's not the best matchup for Witten, however, as the Falcons have done well against opposing tight ends dating back to last season. Witten is still a TE1 for Week 3 and is solid starter for your fantasy team.

DAL TE Jason Witten - Week 2, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs Philadelphia

With Dez Bryant out, Jason Witten now becomes even more of a focus in the Cowboys passing game. Witten had eight catches for 60 yards last week and added two touchdowns for a great start to his 13th season. When QB Tony Romo needs a security blanket, Witten is always the guy.

Witten has had mixed results against Philly in the past, but the Eagles defense is questionable at this point. With Bryant out, Witten is pushed to top-5 status for fantasy tight ends. Start him in all leagues and formats.

DAL TE Jason Witten - Week 1, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs Giants
Jason Witten is not getting any younger and his numbers took a dip last season, but he still is going to be in someone's fantasy lineup on a weekly basis. This week against the Giants, he is ranked No. 6 in our tight end rankings, as the Giants are a good matchup for tight ends. Start Witten in all formats and leagues as a TE1.
