CIN QB Joe Burrow - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at Cleveland Browns
No doubt Joe Burrow will be one of the premier quarterbacks in the NFL. His track record proves that. But the biggest question mark is his health and the calf that has bothered him all summer. Keep an eye on that situation.

Burrow faces the Browns who have a very good pass rush and have been a thorn in the Bengals' side. He is 1-4 lifetime against Cleveland, but still has had good numbers against them. Last season, he averaged 236 passing yards in the two meetings and threw a combined four touchdown passes and two interceptions.

Start Burrow as a solid QB1 for Week 1. He will be in the lineup every week unless the injury benches him, but this week he is not considered a top-5 fantasy quarterback.

Fantasy Upside
Joe Burrow will enter the 2023 season as a top-five fantasy quarterback as he has proven to be one of the top signal-callers in the NFL. He probably is blessed with the best supporting cast around him. Burrow has thrown for over 4,400 yards in each of the past two seasons and the Bengals have continued to invest in his offensive line. He also nearly doubled his previous career-highs in both rushing yards (257) and rushing TDs (5) in 2022, although nobody will mistake him for Josh Allen or Jalen Hurts anytime soon.

Fantasy Downside
The biggest issue going into the 2023 might be the looming contract situation. Like with anybody, it can become a distraction. Burrow also seems to still hold on to the ball too long and although his sacks came down last year, he was still sacked 41 times. Another thing that was negative is that Cincy did not find Burrow a legit target at tight end, as Irv Smith will be average at the position.

2023 Bottom Line
Burrow ranks fourth in fantasy quarterbacks entering this season with an ADP in the late-second or early-third round. We really like the weapons around him as all four of the top playmakers return for Cincinnati. The other thing besides the high production is Burrow ended the season with only five weekly finishes outside the top 12. That consistency is important when you draft a QB that high.

CIN QB Joe Burrow - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Buffalo Bills
Joe Burrow completed 40 of 52 passes, both season-highs. That produced 375 passing yards and three touchdowns. He also threw two picks. It was the fifth time he has thrown for 300+ yards this season. The Cincy offense is playing at a high level as they have won seven straight games.

Burrow will face Buffalo who is ranked 11th in aFPA to quarterbacks. Most are expecting a shootout between the two talented signal callers. If that happens, Burrow will be a huge fantasy asset.

Start Burrow as a top-five fantasy quarterback for Week 17. He should continue his effective play and big numbers should be the outcome on Monday night.

CIN QB Joe Burrow - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at New England Patriots
Joe Burrow threw four touchdown passes for the second time this season and completed 69% of his passes despite only throwing for 200 passing yards. He really has climbed to a consistent top-five fantasy quarterback in the second half of the season. Especially when he has had all his offensive weapons, which he did last week.

Burrow has a tough matchup on the road at New England who is ranked 10th in aFPA to quarterbacks. However, he seems to thrive against good teams in December so we think his numbers will be strong again.

Start Burrow as a top-five fantasy quarterback for Week 16. His floor should be 250 passing yards with a couple touchdown passes, but it could be even higher.

CIN QB Joe Burrow - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
It wasn't Joe Burrow's best game of the year but he did enough to get some fantasy points for his managers. He only completed 55% of his passes, threw for 239 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Still, the Bengals continue to win football games.

Burrow faces Tampa Bay which is ranked 23rd in aFPA to quarterbacks. It appears the Bucs defense, which was considered one of the best in the preseason, has mailed it in.

Despite being a road game, we expect a big day for Burrow. Start him as a top-five fantasy quarterback for Week 15. It should be a good day for the Bengals offense.

Week 14 vs. Cleveland Browns
Joe Burrow was outstanding against the Chiefs throwing for 286 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for another score. He has been his best against KC over the past two seasons in important games. "Joe Cool" continues to play at a high level after a slow start to the season.

Burrow faces the Browns who are ranked 5th in aFPA to quarterbacks. In the first meeting this season against Cleveland, he threw for 232 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

Start Burrow as a top 5 fantasy quarterback for Week 14. He seems to get bettter as the season goes on and always seems to excel against division opponents.

CIN QB Joe Burrow - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Kansas City Chiefs
It was a defensive battle so Joe Burrow's fantasy numbers were average last week against Tennessee. He threw for 270 yards and only one touchdown. He has been held under 300 yards passing in three out of the last four games, but the Bengals are winning.

Next up is Kansas City at home. The Chiefs are ranked 23rd in aFPA to quarterbacks. Burrow threw for 250 yards and 2 touchdowns in the playoff win against KC but threw for 446 yards and four touchdowns in the regular season game. We expect a shootout in this game.

Start Burrow as a top-5 fantasy quarterback. With two marquee quarterbacks and a favorable matchup, he should have a big game even though he hasn't been lights out most games over the past month.
