Fantasy Upside
It looked promising until Joe Burrow went down with an ACL injury in Week 10. The numbers weren't earth-shattering but definitely showed the rookie could play in this league. When he was the starter, the Bengals had the second-most pass attempts per game. Cincinnati didn't hesitate in the off-season to get him more help by drafting his former LSU teammate wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase who some consider the best wide receiver in the draft. Add the already existing offensive skill players and Burrow should have plenty of options to create very good fantasy numbers.
Fantasy Downside
Quarterbacks coming from an ACL injury sometimes excel and sometimes they fall flat and there is really no map to say what is going to happen to Burrow. Even if the Bengals give him plenty of opportunities to put up positive fantasy numbers, there are still issues surrounding Burrow when he was the No. 1 pick in the draft in 2020 including he had one great season in college and was surrounded by multiple top draft picks. Add the injury to those factors and it does show why there is the risk with Burrow.
Bottom Line
If you get Burrow as your No. 2 quarterback, you scored a coup. Drafting him as a No. 1 quarterback has plenty of risk. His ADP has him going somewhere between the eighth and 10th round. All reports are Burrow has worked diligently to get healthy, but sometimes it is hard for players to get back where they were. If he is your No. 1 QB, it is a high-risk, high reward selection. But remember six of his games come against the AFC North and all of those teams have top-tier defenses.
