Scouting report

by Scot Berggren

HOU RB Jonathan Grimes - Week 12, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. New Orleans
In the win over the Jets last week, Jonathan Grimes had six carries for 37 yards and three grabs for 28 yards. Even with T.J. Yates at QB, Houston was able to move the ball with consistency on New York. Alfred Blue will remain the Texans top RB, meaning Grimes pretty much only should be on your roster as a handcuff.

HOU RB Jonathan Grimes - Week 11, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. New York Jets
The crowded Houston backfield continued last week in Cincinnati. Jonathan Grimes, Alfred Blue and Chris Polk combined for 22 rushes for 69 yards. Grimes received six carries for 33 yards and also caught a 12-yard pass, but none of the three have been spectacular, which means the RBBC approach will continue, even if Chris Polk is out with a hamstring injury. The Jets are No. 1 versus the rush, so look elsewhere for your starting RB.

HOU RB Jonathan Grimes - Week 10, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Cincinnati
With Alfred Blue and Chris Polk receiving all of Houston’s rushing attempts two weeks ago against Tennessee, Jonathan Grimes was called on for just two receptions for 12 yards. While Blue will remain the starter, Jonathan was bumped to No. 2 on the depth chart ahead of Polk during the week off. However, at best, Grimes will be splitting carries with Blue and shouldn’t be started this week.

HOU RB Jonathan Grimes - Week 8, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Tennessee
Similar to the first month of the season, Houston will go back to a RBBC approach without Arian Foster. Jonathan Grimes will see some action, but expect Alfred Blue and Chris Polk to receive the bulk of the playing time. Unless one of the backs emerges, none of them makes for a good fantasy start.

HOU RB Jonathan Grimes - Week 4, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Atlanta
Houston ran for 186 yards last week against the Bucs, as Alfred Blue led the way with 139 of those yards. Jonathan Grimes was used for 10 total touches for 38 yards. Blue will take a backseat to Arian Foster, who is healthy for his first game this year in Atlanta, which means there is no reason to keep Grimes on your fantasy roster.

HOU RB Jonathan Grimes - Week 3, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Tampa Bay
While Jonathan Grimes carried the ball just twice in last week’s loss to the Panthers, he led Houston RBs with six receptions for 40 yards. Chris Polk finished with 16 touches for 47 yards and Alfred Blue totaled 10 yards on six touches. Without Arian Foster, the Houston RB situation is a committee, with none of the options worthy of a fantasy start.

HOU RB Jonathan Grimes - Week 2, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Carolina
In the crowded Houston backfield without Arian Foster, Jonathan Grimes had the longest rush of the game versus the Chiefs last Sunday. He had a 21 yard run, but totaled only seven yards on his other five carries. There is no reason to start any Texans RBs except Foster when he returns.
