MIA TE Jonnu Smith - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Las Vegas Raiders

It might be time to welcome Jonnu Smith to the TE1 conversation every week. Maybe last week won't convince you after he went 3-45-0 on 4 targets, but he was tied with Tyreek Hill in targets and now gets the Raiders this week.

Las Vegas is 24th aFPA against tight ends, but have been crushed by tight ends the last two weeks. Travis Kelce (TE4) and Mike Gesicki (TE1) both went off against the Raiders and as Smith's role has expanded, he could be in line for a really good day. He's a borderline TE1 this week and is a must in TE premium leagues.

MIA TE Jonnu Smith - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Los Angeles Rams

It turns out, Mike McDaniel wasn't kidding about his comments in the preseason about excitement for Jonnu Smith. Even with both receivers healthy and Tua Tagovailoa back, Smith was second in targets last week (6) behind only De'Von Achane (8). His role looks solid right now as a lot of the underneath work is going to him instead of Jaylen Waddle. Does it continue that way? We'll see.

The matchup against the Rams is a great one as they are 23rd aFPA against tight ends this season. Smith's role seems secure, for now, and the positive matchup and the role signal a TE1 this week. He's towards the back end of TE1's, but he's startable in all formats.

MIA TE Jonnu Smith - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Buffalo Bills

With Tua Tagovailoa back under center, expectations were high for the Dolphins passing attack, but it didn't exactly translate the first week back. Jonnu Smith finished with 4 catches for 20 yards on 6 targets, so not a great day, but you could do worse! That's essentially the motto of the tight end position these days. I don't love Smith's matchup this week as the Bills are 10th aFPA against tight ends, but again, you could do worse. He's a TE2 in TE premium leagues with better options in standard leagues likely available to you.

MIA TE Jonnu Smith - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs Arizona Cardinals

I'll be the first to admit my shock at Jonnu Smith's usage last week and he looked great. He got the touchdown and finished as a TE1 on the week. We certainly weren't expecting that without Tua Tagovailoa, but he returns this week.

The Cardinals are 18th aFPA against tight ends so far this season so the matchup for Smith is solid. While he's still 4th, at best, in the pecking order for targets, the lack of a WR3 or any competition from other tight ends continues to benefit Smith. He's a TE2 this week and will likely be on your bench (or waivers) in standard leagues, but has appeal in TE premium leagues.

MIA TE Jonnu Smith - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Indianapolis Colts

It's a solid matchup for Jonnu Smith as the Colts are 26th aFPA against tight ends, but it's just too tough to trust him with this quarterback situation. If you're desperate in a TE premium league, I guess I could see it, but there would likely be a better option somewhere.

MIA TE Jonnu Smith - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at New England Patriots

Jonnu Smith is outside of the top 25 tight ends this week and should likely remain on your bench. Unless you're in a TE premium league, he's really not in consideration, but he does have the best matchup of any of the Dolphins' skill players.

MIA TE Jonnu Smith - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Tennessee Titans

Smith is outside of the top 25 tight ends and is not in consideration to start. Snoop Huntley does have a history of targeting tight ends, but that doesn't exactly mesh with the play-calling from head coach Mike McDaniel.
