Scouting report

LV RB Josh Jacobs - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Atlanta Falcons

Josh Jacobs was held to 64 yards last week on 17 carries and one reception, but he found the end zone for the fourth time in the last three games and continues to be one of the steadiest fantasy options out there. Jacobs is on pace for 1,208 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns, making him a legit RB1.

The Falcons actually rank second in the league in aFPA to opposing running backs, which is surprising considering they’re a losing team. Still, Jacobs’ workload should continue to provide a high floor for fantasy owners, and he’s a must-start every week, regardless of matchup.

LV RB Josh Jacobs - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Josh Jacobs had a great game last week in a lopsided victory over the Broncos. He ran the ball 21 times for 112 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and he added 24 receiving yards on four receptions. Jacobs is averaging 22.8 touches per game and is on pace for 1,509 yards from scrimmage. He’s a high-floor option due to his workload and remains a top-tier back in all formats.

This week, Jacobs faces a Chiefs defense that ranks 23rd in aFPA to opposing running backs. He had a pair of touchdowns against them earlier in the season, and with another full workload likely in store for him, he should be a solid RB1 once again. Start him.

LV RB Josh Jacobs - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Denver Broncos

Josh Jacobs had just 15 touches – including one reception – last week against the Chargers. He found the end zone, but wound up with just 68 total yards from scrimmage. Jacobs is still averaging 22.5 touches per game though, and with that kind of workload in an emerging offense, he’s a high-floor fantasy option every week.

The Broncos have been pretty good against the run, as they rank 10th in aFPA to opposing running backs this season. Still, Jacobs has been able to put up double-digit PPR fantasy points in all but one game this season, making him a must-start regardless of matchup. We have him ranked inside our top-10 this week as a legit RB1 in all formats.

LV RB Josh Jacobs - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Los Angeles Chargers

Josh Jacobs bounced back last week with 128 yards on 31 carries in a victory over the Browns. While Jacobs has found the end zone in just two games this season, the five touchdowns he scored over the course of those two games, along with his 23.6 touches per game, make him a must-start every week.

This week, he’ll face a Chargers’ defense that ranks 15th in aFPA to opposing running backs. Expect another full workload for the second-year back, giving him a high floor. We have him ranked inside our top 10 backs this week, and he should be active in all leagues.

LV RB Josh Jacobs - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Cleveland Browns

Josh Jacobs really struggled against the Buccaneers last week, carrying the ball just 10 times for 17 yards on the ground. He added 14 yards on three receptions, but with the Raiders in trailing mode for much of the game and against one of the league’s best run defenses for the second straight season, it was a tough situation for Jacobs to thrive.

This week, Jacobs will face a Browns defense that ranks 18th in aFPA to opposing running backs. They just held Giovani Bernard to 2.8 yards per carry last week, but gave up 101 yards and a touchdown to James Conner the week before. Keep Jacobs active and expect him to rebound in a better matchup. He should get back to his usual 22.3 touches, giving him a high floor.

LV RB Josh Jacobs - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Josh Jacobs had 77 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns against the Chiefs before the bye last week. He had 25 touches, including a pair of receptions for eight additional yards, and is now averaging 24.2 touches per game. If Jacobs can stay healthy through that kind of workload, he’s an excellent high-floor option in all fantasy leagues as a weekly option.

This week, Jacobs faces a tough Buccaneers defense that ranks fourth in aFPA to opposing running backs. Jacobs is productive, and gets enough touches to make him a must-start every week, regardless of matchup. Against this defense, however, temper expectations and think of him more in the RB2 category rather than the steady RB1 he usually is.

LV RB Josh Jacobs - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Kansas City Chiefs

Josh Jacobs was held to just 48 yards rushing last week against the Bills, but he added 25 yards on three receptions, and he remains the main cog in the Raiders’ offense. Jacobs has a high floor due to his usage, and last week should be considered on the low end of weekly expectations for the second-year standout.

The Chiefs rank 19th in aFPA to opposing running backs this year, so expect the Raiders to lean on Jacobs and to try and keep the game close. If the Raiders get down early, we could see more Jalen Richard and Devontae Booker than Jacobs would like, but that hasn’t been the case in most Chiefs matchups so far this year. Expect Jacobs to get near his 24-touch average and turn in RB1 numbers.
