TB QB Josh McCown - Week 17, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Josh McCown - Week 17 vs. New Orleans

Josh McCown had a decent stretch of games for a while, but lately he's been disastrous. In his last four games he's averaging 185 yards and has thrown five interceptions compared to three touchdowns.

He gets a favorable matchup this week against the Saints, but it may not matter. McCown is unlikely to be your fantasy savior in Week 17. He's a QB2 option at best.

TB QB Josh McCown - Week 16, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Josh McCown - Week 16 vs. Green Bay

Josh McCown had a nice three game stretch from Week 10 to Week 12, but now he's in a bad three game stretch. Over his last three games McCown is averaging less than 200 yards per game and has thrown four interceptions compared to three touchdowns. McCown did add a rushing score last week, reclaiming his title as the Bucs' leader in that category with three.

McCown has a chance to throw for a lot of yards this week against Green Bay. If the Bucs get down early then they'll end up with a lot of pass attempts. In the two games where McCown has at least 40 pass attempts he's thrown for over 300 yards.

Having said that, McCown is not a strong option at quarterback this week. His recent performances make him hard to trust. He's a QB2.

TB QB Josh McCown - Week 15, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Josh McCown - Week 15 vs. Carolina Panthers

If you're looking towards Josh McCown at this point in the fantasy season you must be the consolation bracket. McCown has started eight games for Tampa Bay and is averaging just 223 yards per contest. He's also thrown more interceptions (11) than touchdowns (9) this season.

This week he'll face a Panthers team he struggled against in Week 1. In that matchup McCown threw for 183 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. McCown is one of the poorer options at QB this week.

TB QB Josh McCown - Week 14, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Josh McCown - Week 14 vs. Detroit

In seven games this season Josh McCown has thrown seven touchdowns and nine interceptions. So he's averaging one touchdown per game and more than one turnover per game. That's not a good formula for a fantasy QB.

Things won't get any easier this week against Detroit. The Lions have been one of the toughest against QBs this season. Lately they've allowed some better performances, but teams have been throwing the ball at a high rate so the numbers are skewed a bit. The Lions haven't allowed more than two touchdowns in any game this season.

In short, a bad QB in a bad matchup makes for a terrible start. McCown is one the poorer options this week.

TB QB Josh McCown - Week 13, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Josh McCown - Week 13 vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Josh McCown put up plenty of yards (341) last week against Chicago, but he only came away with one touchdown. It was his first game of the season with just one score. He also turned the ball over three times, which essentially eliminated his touchdown if your league negates for turnovers.

Don't expect big numbers from McCown this week. He faces a Bengals defense that's allowed the fewest passing touchdowns in the league (11). The Bucs' QB can be a decent streaming option given the matchup, but this will not be one of those times. He's a poor option.

TB QB Josh McCown - Week 12, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Josh McCown - Week 12 vs. Chicago Bears

Josh McCown has played well since being re-named the starter in Tampa Bay. He threw for over 300 yards in Week 10 and almost reached that milestone again in Week 11 when he threw for 288. He's also scored two touchdowns in every game he's started and finished (didn't finish Week 3 due to injury).

He should continue his hot streak this week against Chicago. The Bears kept Teddy Bridgewater in check in Week 11, but that doesn't mean much. The Bears' defense is struggling big time. Before that game they had allowed six touchdowns to the Packers and five to the Patriots. The Bears have also given up four 300-yard passing games to QBs this season.

McCown's hot streak mixed with a great matchup against the Bears should lead to big things. He's a borderline QB1 play this week.

TB QB Josh McCown - Week 11, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Josh McCown - Week 11 vs. Washington

Josh McCown didn't suck! Last week against Atlanta he led the team in passing with 301 yards and in rushing with 39 yards. He'll look to keep the streak going this week against the Washington Redskins. The Redskins have allowed the second most points to opposing quarterbacks this season.

Washington has given up at least one touchdown to quarterbacks in every game this season. McCown looked nice last week, but he's still a difficult option to trust in fantasy. Before that performance he had failed to reach 200 yards against two of the easier opponents (Carolina, St. Louis) this year.

McCown should be viewed as a QB2.
