LAR RB Malcolm Brown - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs Baltimore Ravens
Malcolm Brown's fantasy value takes a sizeable hit with Todd Gurley's recently increased touch share. Brown has seen exactly five total touches in each of the past two games, and while his 0.79 PPR fantasy points per touch are notably efficient, his usage is too infrequent to translate into fantasy value.

LAR RB Malcolm Brown - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs Chicago Bears
Malcolm Brown returned from injury following the Rams' Week 9 bye but saw just a 16% snap share against the Steelers in Week 10. He ran for just 10 yards on five attempts, making him a fantasy afterthought for the week. He's only crossed a 36% snap share once, and that was in a Week 6 game that Todd Gurley missed. Brown isn't seeing enough volume or efficiency to have much fantasy value going forward.

LAR RB Malcolm Brown - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs Cincinnati Bengals
Malcolm Brown was ruled out for the Rams' Week 8 matchup with the Bengals.

LAR RB Malcolm Brown - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Atlanta Falcons
Malcolm Brown drew the start in Week 6 when Todd Gurley was ruled out, and Brown was on the field for 68% of the Rams' offensive snaps, by far a season-high (his previous best was 36%). Against a suffocating 49ers defense, Brown managed just 40 rushing yards, which made him the fantasy RB44 for the week.

Based on coach Sean McVay's comments, Brown is day-to-day and questionable to play on Sunday. Should he be active, he could either be sharing snaps with both Todd Gurley and Darrell Henderson, or splitting time solely with Henderson, who's fully healthy and looked good in limited snaps last week. Brown is a risky start this week, and probably best avoided.

LAR RB Malcolm Brown - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs San Francisco 49ers
Malcolm Brown started the 2019 season off strong with an RB1 performance in Week 1. Unfortunately, he hasn't finished a week since inside the top 45 fantasy running ranks. Brown has averaged just a 23% snap percentage for the Rams, and is coming off a Week 5 matchup in which he lined up on just 4% of the offensive snaps.

If Todd Gurley does miss this game as recent reporting suggests he may, Brown would be the starter in his stead. While the defensive matchup may be daunting given the 49ers are allowing just 13.8 aFPA to running backs, volume is king at the position for fantasy purposes, and Brown should step into plenty of it. He may not replicate what Gurley's production would be in the same situation, but he would be a useful RB2 should he draw the start.

LAR RB Malcolm Brown - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Seattle Seahawks
Malcolm Brown as his lowest snap share of the season in Week 4 at 24%, and his 1.4 fantasy points make him worthy of a bench spot in deeper leagues only. Brown has received single-digit touches for each of the past three weeks, and despite earning 0.97 PPR fantasy points per touch, which is actually higher than Gurley's 0.95, Brown's glaring lack of touch volume keeps him from cashing in on his efficiency. Barring an injury to Gurley, Brown simply isn't a viable fantasy option for Week 5, and that will remain the case moving forward unless the Rams significantly alter the touch distribution in their backfield.

LAR RB Malcolm Brown - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Malcolm Brown has been a fantasy asset with rapidly diminishing returns, with 17.3 fantasy points in Week 1, 5.2 in Week 2, and 0.7 in Week 3. Brown's snap percentage has hovered around 30% in each of the first three games, it's his touch rate per snap that's dropping precipitously.

Brown faces an extremely challenging matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4, the only team whose aFPA to running backs is actually a negative number. Brown simply isn't getting the touch volume to warrant a start even in an ideal matchup, but this week he's an easy fade.
