PIT QB Mitch Trubisky - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Indianapolis Colts
Mitch Trubisky gets his second start for the injured Kenny Pickett. He has been average so far as he threw for 190 yards last week with one touchdown and one interception. The expectations aren't high and nor should they be as the Pittsburgh offense continues to be one of the worst in the NFL.

Trubisky has fantasy value just because he is starting, but not enough to be considered for anyone's lineup.

PIT QB Mitch Trubisky - 2022 Fantasy Football Outlook

2022 Fantasy Upside
Mitch Trubisky appeared to be the next starting quarterback for Pittsburgh before the 2022 NFL Draft and he still might be. But he has some legitimate competition in first-round draft pick Kenny Pickett. Trubisky will be given a shot to be the starter Week 1. Sometimes people forget that he had some success in Chicago before taking off to Buffalo to back up Josh Allen. Supposedly the experience with the Bills helped Trubisky from a mental standpoint. He was able to lead the Bears to two playoff appearances and did have some big games in his four seasons with Chicago.

2022 Fantasy Downside
Overall, he washed out in Chicago. The Bears lost confidence he was their franchise quarterback as he struggled to be a proficient pro passer. There also is the Pickett factor. The Steelers would love the rookie to be their quarterback Week 1 because the drafted him as their future. So, Trubisky might not even get on the field unless it is to mop up or an injury.

2022 Bottom Line
Trubisky could win the job in training camp, play well and never let the rookie see the field. Or Trubisky might not ever see the field himself. If you have an early draft, you should probably stay away from Trubisky until he is named the starter Week 1. Even then, we think Pickett will be the main man sooner rather than later

CHI QB Mitch Trubisky - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Green Bay Packers

Mitch Trubisky had a solid game last week, finishing with three total touchdowns (2 passing, 1 rush) and 265 passing yards. It's Trubisky's fifth game (in seven starts where he finished the game) where he's scored three touchdowns this season. Trubisky has been scarily consistent in passing yards lately, finishing with 267, 267 and 265 yards in three of his last four starts. He gets a tough matchup this week against the Packers, who have allowed the ninth-fewest passing yards in the league. Trubisky had an interesting game against the Packers earlier in the year when he scored three touchdowns, but also had three turnovers. He threw for 242 yards in that game. He'll be a top 15 QB option in Week 17.

CHI QB Mitch Trubisky - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Jacksonville Jaguars

Mitch Trubisky played well last week, but not from a fantasy perspective. He only had 21 pass attempts (202 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT), which is a season low, and even fewer than he had in Week 3 when he was benched early. Instead, the Bears leaned very heavily on David Montgomery. It's possible they go that route again in Week 16, although maybe not quite so extreme. Trubisky draws a favorable matchup against the Jaguars (No. 27 aFPA) this week, so if he gets enough attempts, he should deliver. Trubisky has played well lately, and the favorable matchup puts him in the top 15 of our quarterback rankings this week.

CHI QB Mitch Trubisky - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Minnesota Vikings

Mitch Trubisky had a solid outing last week, finishing with 267 passing yards and three touchdowns with no turnovers. He also added 23 yards on the ground. Trubisky has now scored three touchdowns in three of the five games he's started and finished this year, making him a surprisingly decent fantasy option. He faces a Vikings defense this week that gave the Bears a lot of trouble in their previous matchup, although Trubisky did not play in that game. Minnesota is a mostly favorable matchup, giving up the fifth-most passing touchdowns to QBs this season. Trubisky is a solid streaming option as he lands in the top 20 of our projections this week.

CHI QB Mitch Trubisky - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Houston Texans

Mitch Trubisky didn't have too great of a game last week, finishing with 267 yards, one touchdown and a turnover (fumble). However, in the other three games he's started and finished this year, he's had at least two scores, averaging 2.6 touchdowns. He gets a fairly favorable matchup this week against the Texans (No. 24 aFPA), assuming he plays. Foles was not listed on the injury report this week, and isn't on the Bears' injured reserve list. There's been no real update on which QB will start this week, so it's certainly worth monitoring. If Trubisky does start, we have him as a top 20 QB option this week, making him a viable streamer if needed.

CHI QB Mitch Trubisky - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Detroit Lions

Nick Foles sat out last week with a hip injury, and he'll be sitting out again in Week 13. When asked if Mitch Trubisky would start in Week 13, Bears coach Matt Nagy said, "I don't see why not," which certainly is an answer. Trubisky didn't play well from a game perspective, but he had a solid fantasy outing in Week 12. Trubisky finished with 242 yards, three touchdowns, but added three turnovers (2 INTs, 1 FUM). Trubisky is averaging 2.6 touchdowns in the three games he's started and finished this season, which certainly isn't terrible. This week he faces a familiar Lions defense he played in Week 1, a game he finished with 242 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. While Trubisky is a little hard to trust, he's not the worst option this week. He'll be a top 20 quarterback play for Week 13.
