Scouting report

CAR WR Robby Anderson - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Washington Football Team

Robby Anderson struggled last week against the Packers, catching just two balls for 21 yards. He was still targeted five times on the day though, and it was a tough coverage matchup for him against a formidable Green Bay secondary. He’s been steady – particularly when it comes to receptions – all season, making him a quality WR2 on weekly basis, despite the tough game.

This week, Anderson faces a Washington defense that ranks ninth in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. After last week, it’s hard to trust him, but he should still get plenty of targets despite the difficult matchup. Fantasy owners should consider him a solid WR3 option in most league formats.

CAR WR Robby Anderson - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Green Bay Packers

Robby Anderson had 84 yards receiving and 13 yards rushing last week in a loss to the Broncos. He caught eight of his 12 targets and now has tied his career-high for targets in a season. He’s 11th in the NFL with 996 receiving yards and has been one of the steadiest PPR receivers in football this season. If he had more than two touchdowns, he’d be a bonafide WR1 in most leagues.

This week, Anderson faces a Packers defense that ranks sixth in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. Not a great matchup and he’ll likely draw a tough coverage assignment, but his volume should still make him a quality option. Temper expectations, however, and consider him a high-end WR3 option, rather than his usual WR2 status.

CAR WR Robby Anderson - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Denver Broncos

Robby Anderson caught four of the seven balls thrown his way against the Vikings before the bye last week, gaining 94 yards and scoring his second touchdown of the season. Anderson has been a high-floor option all season, averaging 8.5 targets and 76 receiving yards per game. If he can start to find the end zone with more frequency, he could easily jump into WR1 territory with the volume he’s gotten.

This week, Anderson faces a Broncos defense that ranks second in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. Expect Anderson to get a little bump in targets with D.J. Moore banged up and on the COVID list. Despite a tough matchup against a good defense, Anderson’s volume and big-play upside make him an excellent WR2 option.

CAR WR Robby Anderson - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Minnesota Vikings

Robby Anderson was held to just 46 yards last week against the Lions after only 21 the week before against the Buccaneers. However, he’s still caught 11 of 15 balls during those two games, showing his 8.6 targets per game isn’t going anywhere. Anderson continues to be a solid and steady option, particularly in PPR formats, where he hasn’t caught less than four passes all year.

Next up for Anderson is a matchup against the Vikings’ 14th-ranked defense in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. He should once again see a steady dose of targets and is worth considering as a high-floor, fringe WR2 option. He hasn’t had over 100 yards in the last six games and only has one touchdown all season, but he’s fourth in the league in receptions.

CAR WR Robby Anderson - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Detroit Lions

Robby Anderson had just 21 yards on four catches last week against Tampa Bay. It was his lowest yardage total and tied for his lowest reception total of the season, despite Carolina playing from behind late. Anderson is still averaging 8.6 targets per game, however, and is on pace for a career-high 1,235 yards – though he’s only found the end zone once.

This week, Anderson faces a Lions defense that ranks 15th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. Expect him to get back to his normal targets and totals this week in a better matchup, although watch the status of Teddy Bridgewater, who is dealing with a knee issue. If Teddy plays, Anderson is a solid WR2 option. If not, move Robby down to WR3 territory.

CAR WR Robby Anderson - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Robby Anderson caught nine balls for only 63 yards last week against the Chiefs, but he was targeted 13 times and is now tied for third in the league in receptions this season. Anderson has been a steady option, despite only finding the end zone once this season, particularly in PPR formats.

This week, Anderson faces a Buccaneers defense that ranks 12th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. Anderson’s rapport with Teddy Bridgewater and consistent targets make him a high-floor option in all leagues, despite a tough matchup, and fantasy owners should consider him a steady WR2 this week.

CAR WR Robby Anderson - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Kansas City Chiefs

Robby Anderson was held to 48 yards against the Falcons last week, but he was targeted a team-high eight times and had five receptions. Anderson continues to lead the team in receptions, targets and receiving yards this season, but has just one touchdown. Still, his targets and seamless fit in the Panthers offense make him a quality WR2 every week, especially in PPR formats, where his 6.4 receptions per game make him a high-floor option.

This week, Anderson faces a Chiefs defense that ranks seventh in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. However, if the Chiefs get up on the Panthers early, they may throw the ball more, opening up opportunities for the entire Carolina receiving corps. Expect another 6-10 targets for Anderson, and he should be active in all leagues.
