Scouting report

NYJ WR Robby Anderson - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Philadelphia
Robby Anderson has been quiet with only 10 catches in the first three games. He is still the most talented receiver on the roster, but with Sam Darnold still out, there is probably little chance Anderson will get those numbers up until his starting quarterback returns.

This normally would be a good matchup for Anderson against the Eagles who are 31st in aFPA to wide receivers. But even against struggling Philly, the quarterback situation outweighs everything else. Keep Anderson on the bench for Week 5 and don't expect anything different until Darnold is back behind center.

NYJ WR Robby Anderson - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at New England
Robby Anderson actually had a better Week 2 than the opening game. He caught four passes but for 81 yards. He was only third in targets which is concerning as Demaryius Thomas has worked his way onto the field. The veteran was acquired right before the opener and has seen action as he had seven targets last week.

Anderson is still the No. 1 receiver for the Jets and is still the best option of all the wide receivers. He can put up receiving yards and has a good matchup this week against the Patriots who were ranked 22nd in aFPA to wide receivers in 2018.

The biggest issue for Anderson and the Jets offense is they are down to their third-string quarterback Luke Falk so his fantasy stock is lower as the Jets offense is expected to struggle until Sam Darnold returns. Keep Anderson on the bench for Week 3.

NYJ WR Robby Anderson - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs Cleveland
Robby Anderson remains the Jets No. 1 receiver despite getting fewer targets than his teammate Jamison Crowder. The results from Week 1 weren't great as Anderson had three catches for 23 yards. Now, the Jets will be without QB Sam Darnold which won't help the fantasy status of any of the Jets.

New York faces the Browns who are fourth in aFPA to wide receivers. Anderson can be a fantasy asset but it won't be easy with a backup quarterback.

Anderson should be on the bench for Week 2. We don't like the matchup but more important, Darnold is out and that hurts the passing game including Anderson.

NYJ WR Robby Anderson - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs Buffalo
Robby Anderson will be the Jets No. 1 receiver on the depth chart but how that translates to fantasy is sketchy. Anderson has averaged over 50 catches per season for New York and actually has 13 touchdowns over the past two seasons, so he does have value.

However, he will be one of those players who will bounce in and out of your lineup based on matchups and also the progress of second-year QB Sam Darnold. Anderson faces a Bills defense for Week 1 that was ranked fifth in aFPA to wide receivers. Buffalo's pass defense is quality and this is a matchup we don't expect Anderson to put up big numbers,

Anderson still can be placed in your lineup as a low-end WR 3 or flex for Week 1. He will probably be around the five-catch area for 70 to 80 yards.

NYJ WR Robby Anderson - 2019 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Robby Anderson is the No. 1 wide receiver on the depth chart and the Jets passing game should be even better as QB Sam Darnold has settled in after his rookie season. Anderson was targeted over 200 times the past two seasons and led the Jets with 50 receptions in 2018. He is a good route runner and has decent speed which has helped be successful in three seasons in the NFL.

Fantasy Downside
Anderson is a No. 1 receiver by default, because the Jets receivers are average across the board. His production actually dropped last season from 2017 and even with Darnold improving during the second half of the season, there are still some question marks which affect Anderson and the wide receiver corp.

2019 Bottom Line
Anderson is a viable fantasy option as he will be close to eclipse 100 targets again. We expect him to improve his 2018 numbers, but only enough to rank him as a low-end WR3. Anderson’s ADP is 75 which is spot on. The 7th round is a good draft spot for him.

NYJ WR Robby Anderson - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at New England Patriots

Robby Anderson exploded last week with a season-high nine receptions for 140 yards. He also scored a touchdown for the third straight game. Anderson has become a favorite target of rookie QB Sam Darnold.

The Jets want to finish the season on a high note in Foxborough. The Patriots are ranked 13th in aFPA to wide receivers so we expect a good game for Anderson. Start him as a high-end WR2 for Week 17.

NYJ WR Robby Anderson - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Green Bay Packers

Robby Anderson had an impressive 2017 season and he is showing signs of returning to those types of numbers here at the end of 2018. Over the past three games, Anderson has emerged as QB Sam Darnold's favorite receiver. He has averaged eight targets per game and also has two touchdowns over the last two games.

Anderson has a very good matchup versus Green Bay who is 28th in aFPA to wide receivers. The Jets receivers have not had good standing in the rankings much this season, but for Week 16, Anderson has solidified himself as a solid WR2.
