NYJ WR Robby Anderson - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at Detroit Lions

Robby Anderson is the No. 1 receiver for New York and the Jets expect him to step up his numbers. However, with a rookie quarterback starting, there are some question marks on how good the Jets offense can be.

Anderson faces an average pass defense in Detroit on Monday and there should be some opportunities for big plays. Overall, he probably rates as a low-end WR2. If you aren't a believer in Darnold then maybe even a WR3. He does have value for Week 1, but we will know more Tuesday morning after the first game is in the books.

NYJ WR Robby Anderson - 2018 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

Robby Anderson improved on his rookie season in 2017 with 63 catches for 941 yards. He is expected to be the Jets' No. 1 wide receiver option in 2018 and those numbers could go even higher. Anderson scored seven touchdowns last season and had double-digit fantasy points in six games. He has a chance to be one of the better receivers in the AFC East if he can stay on the field.

Fantasy Downside

Anderson has run into off-the-field issues in the offseason for the second straight year and a suspension is not out of the question. If he misses time, it will bring down his value and change his standing on the fantasy wide receiver hierarchy. He also has to deal with some competition internally as the Jets brought in Terrelle Pryor. Jermaine Kearse and Quincy Enunwa should be healthy and receive some attention as well.

2018 Bottom Line

Anderson is our No. 24 ranked fantasy wide receiver but is not being selected until the ninth or 10th round. Some of that could be fear of him getting suspended. But he is a great value as a seventh- or eighth-round pick. Keep an eye on any suspension news.

NYJ WR Robby Anderson - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at New England Patriots

Robby Anderson has been the go-to guy in the passing game no matter who the quarterback has been. He is fighting off an illness but will play in the season finale against New England. Last week, he had 5 receptions for 57 yards, but that seems to be the floor rather than the ceiling.

Anderson will face the Patriots this week, who are ranked 16th in aFPA to wide receivers. He had 12 targets the first time he played New England, but that was with Josh McCown under center.

Anderson has value as a low-end WR2 for Week 17, so feel free to start him.

NYJ WR Robby Anderson - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Los Angeles Chargers

When QB Josh McCown went down, so the did Robby Anderson's fantasy stock, along with every other Jets skill player. Last week, the targets were there with 12, but the production was limited—5 catches for 40 yards. Anderson is also nursing a bad knee so he isn't 100%.

It will be a pretty tough matchup on Sunday for New York as the Jets face a Chargers team ranked eighth in aFPA to wide receivers. The Jets offense as a whole is not going to be good this week so keep Anderson on the bench for your playoff game and find a better option.

NYJ WR Robby Anderson - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at New Orleans Saints

After back-to-back 100+ yard receiving games, Robby Anderson was held to 3 receptions for 26 yards. Anderson isn't really the problem as much as it is the quarterback situation in New York. With Josh McCown out for the season, Bryce Petty takes over and that pushes the stock of Anderson and the Jets skill players down.

Anderson will face the Saints this week, who are ranked 17th in aFPA to wide receivers. We think the big games for Anderson are done for the rest of the season, but he should get enough targets to remain a fantasy factor. Start him as a high-end WR3 or FLEX option for Week 15.

NYJ WR Robby Anderson - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Denver Broncos

Robby Anderson has now been targeted 22 times in the last two games. Last week against the Chiefs, he had 8 receptions for 107 yards. However, despite back-to-back 100+ receiving yard games, his touchdown streak ended after scoring in five straight games.

It's going to be a tough game on Sunday at Mile High, as Denver is ranked third in aFPA to wide receivers. Even as hot as Anderson has been, the Jets passing game will likely struggle on the road. This pushes him down to WR3/FLEX territory for Week 14.

NYJ WR Robby Anderson - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Robby Anderson went off last Sunday—6 receptions (on 10 targets) for 146 yards and 2 touchdowns. It was a career-high in receiving yards and his first multi-touchdown game of his career. Anderson has really stepped up his game and his ranking has been rising all season.

Anderson will face the Chiefs this week, who are ranked 29th in aFPA to wide receivers. This is a great opportunity for Anderson to continue his success so he should start Week 13 as a high-end WR2 against KC.
