Scouting report

GB WR Romeo Doubs - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Minnesota Vikings

Romeo Doubs led the way for the Packers' passing attack with Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, and Luke Musgrave on the sideline. In a difficult matchup against the Panthers, he put up 4 catches for 79 yards and a touchdown. It's not a league-winning day, but it was certainly useful for those that needed to start him.

This week, things get a little easier against the Vikings' secondary as they rank 15th in aFPA against wide receivers. Will the game environment be the same as last week after the Packers and Panthers got into an unexpected shootout? Unlikely with Jarren Hall starting for Minnesota, but we've seen crazier things happen this year. Doubs is a borderline WR3/flex play this week, you'll likely need to start him in some spots and can hope for a touchdown as always.

GB WR Romeo Doubs - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Carolina Panthers

Romeo Doubs is the only of the main four receivers not on the injury report this week. Christian Watson and Jayden Reed have both been DNP's this week while Dontayvion Wicks has logged two limited practice's this week. Doubs hasn't seemed to have the ceiling of other receivers on the Packers even when others are missing. Even with injuries last week he finished with 3 targets, catching all 3 for 30 scoreless yards.

This is an incredibly difficult matchup for the Packers going up against a Panthers pass defense that has only allowed two 200-yard passers since Week 6. Teams tend to run on the Panthers, and with Doubs' limited ceiling, it might be better to look at other flex options this week.

GB WR Romeo Doubs - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Romeo Doubs has the most consistent role on the Packers' offense seeing the highest route percentage on the team and somewhere between 15-20% of the targets every week. Unfortunately, some weeks those 5-7 targets could include some high aDOT targets, and some weeks they don't. Last week was a down week as he saw an aDOT of just 8.57 yards (the week before was 17.2).

His ability to win in both the short, intermediate, and deep routes throughout the season should bode well against a bad Tampa Bay pass defense that ranks 30th in aFPA against wide receivers this week. With Christian Watson looking unlikely to play, that also helps Doubs in the red zone. He's just inside WR3 territory in the ranks this week and should be treated as such. Hopefully, Jordan Love can rebound this week and pay that WR3 tag off for Doubs.

GB WR Romeo Doubs - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at New York Giants

Christian Watson's status won't impact Romeo Doubs as much as the other receivers this week, but he maintains the top route participation without Watson and will continue to see high aDOT targets from Jordan Love. The main benefit of Watson likely missing is that Doubs will return to the top end-zone option, which only raises his ceiling.

A solid matchup against the Giants (25th aFPA against wide receivers) and the Watson absence makes Doubs a WR3 this week with an elevated ceiling from weeks past. If Aaron Jones were healthy, I'd feel more confident the Packers would just pound the Giants into submission, but with the way Jordan Love has played lately, he should get enough attempts to make Doubs worth starting.

GB WR Romeo Doubs - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Romeo Doubs continues to be the most consistent receiver on the Packers, but unless he snags a touchdown it's going to be tough for him to be anything other than a flex play on a given week. After seeing over 25% of the Packers' air yards through the season, he saw just 13% of the air yards making things even more difficult for Doubs if he doesn't get in the end zone like last week.

While things were tough last week, at least Doubs saw nearly 90% of the routes last week which keeps him in the WR3 conversation again this week with the Packers receivers condensing a bit as everyone has gotten healthy. Ranking fifth aFPA against receivers, the Chiefs won't be an easy matchup this week for Doubs, but like every week you start him and hope he gets a touchdown.

GB WR Romeo Doubs - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Detroit Lions

Romeo Doubs remains the safest Packers' receiver, but the upside is rarely there on a week-to-week basis. Doubs is likely going to lead the Packers in targets on any given week and is likely to see an end zone target or two. That remained the case against the Chargers as he finished with 5 catches for 53 yards and a touchdown. One usage note for Doubs, he did see his lowest snap% of the season at just 74%. Not concerning, but something worth monitoring moving forward.

Doubs and the rest of the Packers' receivers have a favorable matchup against the Lions (21st aFPA against wide receivers). He's WR41 on the week in our 4for4 rankings, which puts him in WR3/flex territory. In a game where the Packers are likely going to have to throw, Doubs is a safe option as a WR3 or flex this week in full-PPR settings but is likely a better option in formats where touchdowns are more outsized portions of scoring.

GB WR Romeo Doubs - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Romeo Doubs continues to have the safest floor out of all the Packers receivers with his ability to command work in the red zone. While Doubs' ceiling is a bit limited, as evidenced of his 3 catches for 31 yards and a touchdown against the Steelers, he provides enough of a floor that he remains startable every week.

A great matchup against the Chargers is on tap, and while it's not quite Washington, the Chargers have given up a top-10 number in passing touchdowns this year which helps Doubs this week. Doubs is a WR3/flex option this week and checks in at WR38 in our 4for4 rankings and as always with Doubs if he gets you a touchdown he pays off and if he doesn't, he likely won't. However, given the matchup, I'd lean towards starting Doubs.
