GB WR Romeo Doubs - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Atlanta Falcons

Romeo Doubs has logged two limited practices this week, but we aren't as concerned about him this week after leading the team with five targets in Week 1 and scoring two touchdowns. Jordan Love seems to be looking for Doubs in the red zone and while he won't score two touchdowns, being the primary target there certainly helps.

Doubs is on the WR3/Flex borderline, but he's likely in your starting lineup this week if you have him. It might be a little tougher sledding for the Packers' passing game this week, but likely without Christian Watson again and Aaron Jones potentially limited, if not out, Doubs doesn't have a ton of competition for targets.

GB WR Romeo Doubs - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at Chicago Bears

In addition to Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs has also been on the sideline more often than not lately. Doubs was at least able to manage a limited practice on Thursday and we would like to see a full practice on Friday. However, even another limited practice on Friday would be a solid indication Doubs will likely suit up on Sunday.

Without Watson, Doubs would likely be the go-to receiver for Jordan Love in Week 1 against the Bears. How much mileage that gets you can vary, but I'm not sure it gets you into Flex consideration - not yet, at least.

UPDATE: Doubs is listed as Questionable for Sunday, keep an eye out for his status on Sunday morning. With Christian Watson officially ruled out, he's inching closer to Flex consideration.

GB WR Romeo Doubs - 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
For a fifth-round rookie out of Nevada, you could argue Romeo Doubs exceeded all expectations in his first year in the NFL. While the stats don’t jump out at you - 42 catches, for 425 yards, and three touchdowns - he ran the second-most routes at receiver for the Packers last season and had the second-most targets, despite playing in one less game than Christian Watson. He’s also been praised throughout the offseason and camps as a player that could lead the Packers in receptions this year by some on the beat.

Fantasy Downside
While the Packers lost Allen Lazard and didn’t sign DeAndre Hopkins or any other big-name receiver, they did add Jayden Reed in the second round of the draft. It’s just enough competition for targets that it does make you pause. Add in the inexperienced Jordan Love taking over at QB, and the lack of draft capital and poor efficiency on Doubs and you can see how we get to the downside scenario.

2023 Bottom Line
If you listened to minicamp and training camp reports in 2022, you knew Doubs had a real chance of getting significant snaps even as a fifth-round rookie. We’re getting the same glowing reports so far in the offseason again with Doubs. His ADP is well behind where we have him ranked and he should be drafted confidently at ADP.

GB WR Romeo Doubs - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Minnesota Vikings
Romeo Doubs had a big jump in snap share in Week 16 after his return from injury in Week 15. Doubs was all the way up to 63% of snaps played and saw six targets from Aaron Rodgers against the Dolphins last week. Doubs is a talented player with a good quarterback, but the Packers' core of skill players is crowded and it leads to widely distributed statistical production from the pass catchers. Doubs and the other Packers receivers get a great matchup this week against the Vikings' swiss-cheese secondary that ranks dead last by a good margin in schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed to wideouts. Doubs has some upside this week based on his return to health and a great matchup, but he is tough to count on as a starter in fantasy with multiple players in front of him for touches.

GB WR Romeo Doubs - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Miami Dolphins
Romeo Doubs was eased in as far as usage is concerned in his return from injury in Week 15. Doubs only played 37.5% of the Packers' offensive snaps but saw five targets and caught them all for 55 yards. Doubs should continue to see more and more work as he returns to 100% health, but until he is playing a larger share of the snaps available in this offense, he cannot be counted on for starter-worthy production in fantasy.

GB WR Romeo Doubs - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Detroit Lions
Romeo Doubs made a highlight reel touchdown catch in Week 8 against Buffalo to polish off a 4-62-1 line against the Bills' stout secondary. Doubs has had some ups and downs as a rookie, but he clearly has talent and the Packers desperately need him to be involved in the offense given the state of their pass-catching depth chart. Doubs will get a chance to take advantage of the Lions' abysmal defense in Week 9, setting him up to be a solid flex play in what could be a high-scoring affair.

GB WR Romeo Doubs - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Buffalo Bills
Romeo Doubs was shut out in Week 7 when he saw four targets but couldn't record a single catch in the Packers' loss to Washington. Doubs remains a near full-time player in the Green Bay offense, but the difficult reality for the Packers this year is that none of the skill players have been able to compile consistent production for fantasy. The Packers' offensive usage is widely distributed and the overall unit has been mediocre at best to this point in the season. Doubs may see some extra targets this week if Allen Lazard sits out or the Packers face a negative game script against the mighty Bills, but his floor will be very low sharing targets in a game where the Packers could get dominated. Doubs is an unexciting flex play at best for Week 8 against Buffalo.
