Fantasy Upside
For a fifth-round rookie out of Nevada, you could argue Romeo Doubs exceeded all expectations in his first year in the NFL. While the stats don’t jump out at you - 42 catches, for 425 yards, and three touchdowns - he ran the second-most routes at receiver for the Packers last season and had the second-most targets, despite playing in one less game than Christian Watson. He’s also been praised throughout the offseason and camps as a player that could lead the Packers in receptions this year by some on the beat.
Fantasy Downside
While the Packers lost Allen Lazard and didn’t sign DeAndre Hopkins or any other big-name receiver, they did add Jayden Reed in the second round of the draft. It’s just enough competition for targets that it does make you pause. Add in the inexperienced Jordan Love taking over at QB, and the lack of draft capital and poor efficiency on Doubs and you can see how we get to the downside scenario.
2023 Bottom Line
If you listened to minicamp and training camp reports in 2022, you knew Doubs had a real chance of getting significant snaps even as a fifth-round rookie. We’re getting the same glowing reports so far in the offseason again with Doubs. His ADP is well behind where we have him ranked and he should be drafted confidently at ADP.
