Scouting report

LAC QB Taylor Heinicke - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Taylor Heinicke is starting this week while Justin Herbert nurses his high ankle sprain. He's not in fantasy consideration this week.

ATL QB Taylor Heinicke - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Indianapolis Colts

The Falcons have gone back to Taylor Heinicke, likely signaling the end of the Desmond Ridder era after just two seasons. Heinicke averaged about 12 fantasy points in his three appearances (entered for Ridder in Week 8, left with an injury in Week 10) with three touchdowns in one interception in those games. Heinicke doesn't change much with the Atlanta offense, remaining a low-end QB2 against an interesting Colts defense. He shouldn't inspire much confidence if you're trying to reach the fantasy championship.

ATL QB Taylor Heinicke - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Arizona Cardinals

Taylor Heinicke threw for 268 yards and a touchdown last week against the Vikings and that was without Drake London. Heinicke should have his top receiver back this week in Arizona. He was fine last week against the Vikings, but even with London coming back, Heinicke isn’t a quarterback you have to rush out and get. He’s a low-end QB2 this week and Atlanta reportedly will evaluate the position during the Week 11 bye.

ATL QB Taylor Heinicke - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Minnesota Vikings

The Falcons are making a quarterback change as Taylor Heinicke takes over for Desmond Ridder. Heinicke has always been a serviceable quarterback over the years and Atlanta hopes he can provide some kind of spark that Ridder has yet to do thus far. He gets the Vikings this week, who have been playing better but now have to go without Kirk Cousins. Fantasy-wise, Heinicke is a slight upgrade over Ridder, but still not someone you have to rush out and start this week. He’s a top-20 option for the week.

WAS QB Taylor Heinicke - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at San Francisco 49ers

Taylor Heinicke didn't have a great outing last week vs. the Giants. He finished with 249 yards and a touchdown, adding 33 yards on the ground. Heinicke also ended up with two lost fumbles. We wouldn't expect Heinicke to get much better in Week 16 as he draws a tough matchup vs. the 49ers who have given up the third-fewest average fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. San Francisco has given up just 13 passing touchdowns to QBs this year, which is second-fewest in the league. Heinicke is one of the worst options at QB in Week 16.

WAS QB Taylor Heinicke - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. New York Giants

Taylor Heinicke looked solid in his last outing in Week 13, finishing with 275 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions (although he did have a fumble). Oddly enough that performance came against the Giants, who are once again playing the Commanders this week. Considering that game came just two weeks ago, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Heinicke finish with a similar performance again. Having said that, there are a lot more quarterbacks this week with promise, especially considering the bye weeks are over. Heinicke is an OK option, but he hasn't shown a high ceiling so far this season. We'd likely go with another option at QB for Week 15.

WAS QB Taylor Heinicke - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at New York Giants

Taylor Heinicke had an OK outing last week, finishing with 138 yards, two touchdowns and interception. Heinicke has thrown for multiple touchdowns in three of his six starts for Washington this season, but he's averaging less than 200 pass yards per game (194.8). He's been able to play OK in favorable matchups, but has struggled in tough matchups. And this week he'll get a tough matchup in the Giants (8th aFPA). Heinicke is a bottom-tier option at QB this week.
