NO TE Taysom Hill - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Green Bay Packers

The Saints had to utilize their Swiss Army knife last week as Taysom Hill saw nine carries against the Panthers and took them for 75 yards. Could the Saints use a three-headed monster of Hill, Kendre Miller and Tony Jones? Perhaps. Does that mean Hill is a must-start in fantasy this week? Not necessarily. But as a deeper TE2? Maybe. Hill remains boom-or-bust but his added rushing value gives him a boost this week.

NO TE Taysom Hill - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Carolina Panthers

Maybe the Taysom Hill experiment is starting to be phased out. He carried the ball three times, saw just one target and did not throw the ball. Maybe the Saints are going back to a traditional approach with Derek Carr at quarterback. There’s really no reason at this point to have Hill in your lineups at this point.

NO TE Taysom Hill - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Tennessee Titans

Taysom Hill can still be played as a tight end in fantasy but he is back to being listed as a quarterback for the Saints. His usage probably won't change from last season, meaning he'll be all over the place. But he's so boom-or-bust and it's only Week 1. No need to run him out there in your lineups just yet.

NO TE Taysom Hill - 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Taysom Hill is a tight end in name only. We know by now the Saints love to use him in a variety of ways, including on the goal line, which was a driving force in Hill rushing for seven touchdowns in 2022. There will be weeks where he puts up double-digit points in fantasy.

Fantasy Downside
There will also be plenty of weeks where Hill puts up next to nothing in fantasy because the game flow doesn't allow him to be on the field. The Saints also now have a better quarterback in Derek Carr, who can get the ball to playmakers like Chris Olave. New Orleans' tight end room is also pretty stocked with Juwan Johnson and Foster Moreau, further capping Hill's ceiling.

2023 Bottom Line
There is a very small chance Hill repeats as a top-five fantasy tight end. He's currently being drafted just inside the top 20 among tight ends and will have to compete with Jamaal Williams, Juwan Johnson, and Foster Moreau down at the goal line, not to mention the other playmakers all throughout the field. Hill is going late in drafts and for good reason. He's far from consistent from a fantasy perspective.

NO TE Taysom Hill - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Philadelphia Eagles

Taysom Hill has seen more work running the football of late and scored a rushing touchdown last week against the Browns. He's given the Saints a spark on offense. Thanks to the struggles of the Buccaneers, the Saints still have a shot at winning the division, so the Saints will still be gung-ho and that should include keeping Hill involved, keeping him in TE2 territory with low-end TE1 upside.

NO TE Taysom Hill - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Cleveland Browns

The Swiss Army knife for the Saints had a 68-yard touchdown pass last week against the Falcons and 110 total yards. Of course, the risk is always that you're hoping he comes up with that big play to make a fantasy day out of it. That's a gamble this late in the season and maybe not one you want to make if you're going for a championship.

NO TE Taysom Hill - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Atlanta Falcons

Taysom Hill finally looked like the swiss army knife the Saints wanted him to be, as he was involved in a number of ways in Week 13 against the Buccaneers (35 receiving yards, 10 rushing yards, 21 passing yards) and scored a touchdown. The Saints are getting a bit healthier at the tight end position after Juwan Johnson and Adam Trautman were banged up but had the bye week to recover. Hills remains an intriguing TE2 this week against the Falcons, which is an interesting matchup for the position.
