Fantasy Upside
What a difference a year makes, You don't need a math degree to measure the progress made in Year 2 by Trevor Lawrence, who doubled his touchdown total and sliced his interceptions in half while leading the Jaguars to the playoffs. At 23, the former No. 1 overall pick matched Deshaun Watson (2018) as the youngest QB in NFL history to throw for at least 4,000 yards with 25-plus TDs and fewer than 10 picks. He formed instant connections last season with WRs Christian Kirk and Zay Jones and hopes to do the same with newcomer Calvin Ridley, a 90-1,374-9 performer with Atlanta in 2020. The Jaguars also used their first three 2023 draft picks on Lawrence's side of the ball, adding OT Anton Harrison, TE Brenton Strange and RB Tank Bigsby. Harrison is the likely replacement for blind-side protector Cam Robinson, who will miss the start of the season on a PED suspension.
Fantasy Downside
Lawrence will never be Jalen Hurts or Daniel Jones, so he lacks the rushing upside of other elite fantasy passers. Still, he did rush for five scores to cement his spot in the fantasy top 10.
2023 Bottom Line
With Lawrence entering his third season with momentum, 4for4's John Paulsen believes fantasy managers should confidently draft him as the seventh or eighth quarterback off the board.
