Scouting report

by Scot Berggren

DEN QB Trevor Siemian - Week 16, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Kansas City
The Broncos offense, mainly the ground game, struggled again last week in the home loss to the Patriots. Trevor Siemian finished with 282 yards through the air and threw a costly red zone interception, as Denver managed just three total points. Versus the Chiefs last month, Trevor threw for a career-high 368 yards and three touchdowns, but a lot of the yardage came on a few long passes. In what could be a frigid Christmas night in Kansas City, you’re better off not waiting until the end of the weekend for your starting fantasy QB.

DEN QB Trevor Siemian - Week 15, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. New England
After missing the previous game at Jacksonville with a sore foot, Trevor Siemian was back on the field at Tennessee last week and ended up posting solid fantasy numbers. With the Broncos behind and the ground attack doing almost nothing, Trevor threw for 334 yards and a touchdown. After going six contests without a 300 yard performance, he has thrown for over 300 in the past two games he’s played. With the Broncos run game struggling, Siemian is throwing more than desired and he has a tough matchup against Bill Belichick and the Patriots on Sunday. He should be considered a QB2 option.

DEN QB Trevor Siemian - Week 14, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Tennessee
After missing last week's game in Jacksonville with a foot injury, Trevor Siemian has been practicing this week, but his status for the contest at Tennessee is uncertain. While the Titans are near the bottom of the league at stopping the pass, Trevor doesn't make for a good fantasy start due to the injury. Be sure to monitor the injury report, but you're better off looking elsewhere for a starting QB.

DEN QB Trevor Siemian - Week 13, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Jacksonville
With the help of three long fourth quarter passes, Trevor Siemian had the best day of his young career last Sunday night in the loss to the Chiefs. He finished with 368 yards through the air and three TD tosses, despite being sacked five times. He also ran for 23 yards. However, after the big performance, he's dealing with a foot injury and his status is uncertain. If Siemian does play, he'll be on the road facing a Jaguars pass defense that is No. 3 in the league, so he's not a good option anyway.

DEN QB Trevor Siemian - Week 12, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Kansas City
Two weeks ago in the win at New Orleans, Trevor Siemian threw for 258 yards with two TDs and two INTs. He was sacked six times, but has thrown for at least 250 yards in three straight before the off week. Trevor has tossed 12 touchdowns versus seven interceptions on the season and he has a decent matchup at home versus a Kansas City defense that is middle of the pack against the pass. Again consider Siemian a QB2 option.

DEN QB Trevor Siemian - Week 10, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at New Orleans
As the Broncos ground game struggles, Trevor Siemian continues to throw more passes than what the coaching staff would like. For Siemian owners, this has turned in to a good thing lately, as the Denver QB threw for 283 yards and two TDs in the loss at Oakland last Sunday night. His stats took a big boost on the late 69-yards screen pass that Kapri Bibbs took all the way to the end zone. Trevor has another great matchup on Sunday, as the Saints are dead last in the league at stopping the pass. However, Siemian remains a QB2 option.

DEN QB Trevor Siemian - Week 9, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Oakland
Trevor Siemian and the Denver offense started slow against the Chargers last week, but he finished with 276 yards through the air on 38 attempts. It was the first time since Week 2 that he failed to throw for a least one TD, however. After suffering a shoulder injury a few weeks ago, Siemian has appeared to look more comfortable running the offense. He continues to not have much of a ground game, but has a good matchup at Oakland on Sunday night. Consider Siemian a QB2 play this week.
