MIA QB Tua Tagovailoa - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at New York Jets

Tua Tagovailoa wasn't expected to play last week, but he entered the game after halftime following an injury to Jacoby Brissett. With an extended week off, Tagovailoa should be good to go this week. He got in a full practice session on Thursday and looked good enough to play in Week 10. He'll get a favorable matchup against the Jets this week, who have given up the 11th-most fantasy points to opposing QBs. Tagovailoa should be viewed as a mid-range QB this week, near QB15. He'll be a solid streaming option for those who need a spot start in Week 11.

MIA QB Tua Tagovailoa - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Houston Texans

As expected, Tua Tagovailoa struggled last week against a tough Buffalo defense. Tagovailoa finished with 205 pass yards, no pass touchdowns and an interception. He did score on the ground, but overall not a great game. He should be able to bounce back this week in a favorable matchup vs. the Texans. Houston is 25th in schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed to QBs. When Tagovailoa gets a favorable matchup, he's played well this season, albeit in a small sample size of two games. He finished as QB10 in Week 6 vs. the Jaguars and QB1 in Week 7 vs. the Falcons. We like him as a top 10 QB in Week 9 vs. the Texans.

MIA QB Tua Tagovailoa - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Buffalo Bills

Tua Tagovailoa had a strong fantasy outing last week, finishing with 291 pass yards, four touchdowns and 29 rush yards. He also had two interceptions, but the positives fully outweighed the negatives in that game. It's the second week in a row Tagovailoa has totaled 300+ yards, which is nice to see considering the Dolphins' passing game was averaging just around 200 before then. But we wouldn't be surprised if that production came down in Week 8 in a brutal matchup against the Bills. Buffalo has allowed the fewest schedule-adjusted fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. Tagovailoa got injured in his first matchup vs. Buffalo, and the Dolphins finished the game with zero points and under 200 pass yards. Tagovailoa has proven he can be a nice streaming option in favorable matchups, but we'd probably stay away from him in Week 8. He's outside the top 20 QB plays this week.

MIA QB Tua Tagovailoa - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Atlanta Falcons

As of now, Tua Tagovailoa is a member of the Dolphins. Trade rumors suggest Miami may move him to Washington, but for now, we'll just focus on his status with the Dolphins. Tagovailoa had one of his better games last week, finishing with 329 pass yards, two touchdowns, an interception and 22 rush yards. It's the third time in 12 career starts he's surpassed 300 yards and the fourth time he's scored multiple pass touchdowns. He should be able to build on that success this week in a favorable matchup against the Falcons, who are 28th in schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks. Tagovailoa enters QB1 territory this week, especially with so many players on bye.

MIA QB Tua Tagovailoa - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Jacksonville Jaguars

The Dolphins designated Tua Tagovailoa for return from IR, meaning he's eligible to play vs. Jaguars. No official decision has been made yet, but we'd expect him to play. However, his status is worth monitoring. Assuming he plays, he won't have as many weapons as he had at the start of the year. Will Fuller has been placed on IR and DeVante Parker has been listed as DNP this week with a shoulder/hamstring injury. We've only seen Tagovailoa play once this year, and that was against a tough Patriots defense. He gets a much easier matchup this week against the Jaguars who are 23rd in schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed to QBs.

Tagovailoa isn't a great option this week as he's ranked outside our top 15 quarterbacks, but he's also not the worst option available if you need a streamer. As 4for4's Chris Allen noted, three of five opposing quarterbacks have finished in the Top 12 vs. the Jaguars this season.

MIA QB Tua Tagovailoa - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Buffalo Bills

Tua Tagovailoa had a solid debut in Week 1, finishing with 202 yards, two total touchdowns (one passing, one rushing), and an interception. Although he'll once again be without Will Fuller in Week 2 as the wide receiver deals with a personal issue (Fuller was suspended for Week 1). It was a decent game, especially considering it was a tough matchup. He gets another tough matchup in Week 2 against the Bills who gave up just 188 passing yards in Week 1. Tagovailoa had 361 passing yards against the Bills last season, although he threw the ball 58 times in that contest. He also finished with just one score and three interceptions. We expect another modest outing from Tagovailoa in Week 2, placing him around the 20th ranked quarterback for the week.

MIA QB Tua Tagovailoa - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at New England Patriots

Tua Tagovailoa is headed into his sophomore season after a bumpy rookie year. But there's reason to expect improvement, most notably by all the additions Miami brought in this offseason. However, one of the primary additions, Will Fuller, will be sitting out this first game due to a suspension. And Miami will miss him in a tough matchup against the Patriots, who allowed the eighth-fewest passing yards in the league a season ago. Tagovailoa might be better in Year 2, but it's hard to trust him in Week 1 against a tough opponent while also missing one of his top weapons. We have Tagovailoa ranked outside the top 20 quarterbacks in Week 1.
