Scouting report

MIN RB Ty Chandler - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Detroit Lions

Ty Chandler saw 14 rushing attempts in Week 5 against the Jets due to Aaron Jones leaving in the first half with a hip injury. Jones remains limited. If he can't go, Chandler will be in the mix but the Vikings also just traded for Cam Akers, so it's anyone's guess who would get the work if Jones is out. Chandler remains worthy of a roster spot but likely should stay on the bench again this week.

MIN RB Ty Chandler - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. New York Jets (in London)

Ty Chandler remains a top handcuff but logged just three rushes against the Packers in Week 4. Chandler remains a bench stash.

MIN RB Ty Chandler - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Green Bay Packers

Ty Chandler has settled into a change-of-pace role behind Aaron Jones. You're banking on an explosive play if you're starting Chandler. He's still roster-worthy as he would become a strong option if Aaron Jones were to miss time.

MIN RB Ty Chandler - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Houston Texans

Aaron Jones is seeing plenty more snaps but the touches are pretty close for Ty Chandler (30-21). Chandler had ten carries for 82 yards last week. Could he start digging into Jones’ playing time? We’ll see, but he does have a tough matchup against one of the better defenses in the league in Houston. Chandler remains one of the top handcuffs in the league.

MIN RB Ty Chandler - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. San Francisco 49ers

Ty Chandler had 11 touches in Week 1 for 42 total yards. He played 19 snaps to Aaron Jones' 30. Chandler will be involved in the offense, but right now, not enough to warrant much fantasy value unless you're in a deeper league. With it only being Week 2, it's understandable to keep Chandler on the bench.

MIN RB Ty Chandler - 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

After assuming the starting spot in Week 15, Ty Chandler was a late-season fantasy darling. Well, at least for one week. After his big Week 15 (132 rushing yards, 25 receiving yards, one rushing touchdown), Chander totaled just 170 yards in the final three weeks, two against the Lions. That said, Chandler did show flashes last season and saw over 100 carries.

Fantasy Downside

With Aaron Jones now in Minnesota, Chandler's ceiling is not very high. He may be relegated to being a spell back to keep Jones fresh. Chandler is a tough sell until the end of your drafts.

2024 Bottom Line

Chandler is a handcuff to Aaron Jones. He just made our top 50 running backs heading into drafts. He's not much more than a late lottery ticket in case Jones is out.

MIN RB Ty Chandler - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Green Bay Packers

Ty Chandler is our RB20 this week. He has to deal, again, with the return of Alexander Mattison. He carried the load admirably against the Bengals a few weeks ago but was only given eight opportunities this past week.

At RB20, he's in strong RB2 consideration for your finals this week.
