CIN WR Tyler Boyd - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
It's kind of hit or miss with Tyler Boyd, who is the veteran of the Bengals receiving corps. He did have some big games in 2021, and will have some this season, but it's going to be sporadic and unpredictable throughout the year.

Boyd has made some plays against his hometown Pittsburgh team in the past. The Steelers were ranked 15th in aFPA to wide receivers last season, however Boyd ended up with only six catches for 49 yards in two games.

Boyd is depth to start the season but if anything happens to Ja'Marr Chase or Tee Higgins, his stock will rise quickly. Keep Boyd on the bench for Week 1.

CIN WR Tyler Boyd - 2022 Fantasy Football Outlook

2022 Fantasy Upside
Tyler Boyd plays in one of the best passing games in the NFL. He is assured of a position in the slot and even though he is consider the No. 3 receiver, he played in 74% of the snaps in 2021. Boyd ended up with 67 receptions for 828 yards and 5 touchdowns which would be the equivalent to No. 2 receiver numbers on a lot of teams. The veteran is still a good route runner and makes big catches when needed.

2022 Fantasy Downside
Like we mentioned, Boyd is clearly the No. 3 receiver for Cincy behind Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. You won't get many big games for him as he had one 100 receiving yard game last season. It's hard to think his numbers will be better and they could even decline dramatically if Boyd seems to be on the downside of his career.

2022 Bottom Line
There is still a place for Boyd on your fantasy team. The Bengals passing game dictates that along with the fact he still was getting on the field and getting targets. Boyd is a good fourth receiver for your squad, but definitely don't draft him any earlier than the 11th round and it might be better if you can get him in the 12th or 13th.

CIN WR Tyler Boyd - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Kansas City
Tyler Boyd had a strong performance with five catches for 85 yards and a touchdown. It was a huge day for the Bengals passing game so everyone was in on it. Boyd can have these types of games, but this is about his ceiling. When Cincy throws that ball that much, it usually works out for all three receivers, but if its under 35 pass attempts, someone is usually left out.

The Bengals face the Chiefs who are ranked 11th in aFPA to wide receivers. We expect a high-scoring affair and Boyd has some value, but not nearly as much as the younger receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Start Boyd as a WR3 or flex for Week 17.

CIN WR Tyler Boyd - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Baltimore
Last week, it was Tyler Boyd's week to put up big numbers. He had five receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown in Denver. It was his highest yardage total since Week 4 and his first touchdown reception since Week 8. The Bengals have three receivers capable of putting up big numbers although Boyd is third on the pecking order.

Cincy faces the Ravens who are ranked 24th in aFPA to wide receivers. In the first meeting with Baltimore, Boyd had four receptions for 39 yards. Even though he was the best fantasy receiver last week, the odds are against him doing that again. Keep Boyd on the bench for Week 16.

CIN WR Tyler Boyd - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Denver
Tyler Boyd is still putting up decent numbers. The problem is he has two young wide receivers ahead of him in the pecking order on the Bengals roster. Boyd had four receptions for 55 yards last Sunday.

Boyd faces an average Broncos pass defense but it's hard to count on him fantasy-wise because of the other weapons on the Cincy offense. In the last five weeks, he has peaked at eight targets but also had two. Keep Boyd on the bench for Week 15.

CIN WR Tyler Boyd - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. San Francisco
Tyler Boyd continues to be the third option in the passing game, but he is still capable of having a big game here and there like he did last week. Boyd had five receptions for 85 yards which were second-highest on the team. However, his streak without a touchdown has now been extended to four games.

Boyd faces the 49ers who are ranked 12th in aFPA to wide receivers. The problem with Boyd is he is hit or miss while the top two receivers for Cincy are more reliable for fantasy numbers. Keep Boyd on the bench for Week 14 as we predict big games for Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins which will leave Boyd as the odd man out.

CIN WR Tyler Boyd - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Los Angeles Chargers
Tyler Boyd was held to two receptions for 13 yards last Sunday and has been up and down each week. The Bengals have run the ball really well and that has hurt the Bengals receiving numbers and Boyd is third on the pecking order.

Boyd faces the Chargers who are a tough matchup, ranked 3rd in aFPA to wide receivers. Boyd has been consistently a WR3 most weeks, but keep him on the bench for Week 13 as the Cincy offense has been run-oriented and Chargers are bad against the run. Receiving numbers could be limited again.
