Fantasy Upside
Tyler Boyd put up back-to-back 1,000 receiving yard seasons in 2018 and 2019. He actually was seventh in the NFL in targets in 2019. Boyd will serve as the veteran of the Bengals receiving corps with A.J. Green out of Cincinnati. He has been especially effective in PPR leagues and will continue to get targets from second-year quarterback Joe Burrow. Cincy will rely heavily on the passing game as they did before Burrow got hurt.
Fantasy Downside
Boyd's 2020 receiving yardage took a step back with almost 200 fewer yards than 2019. Add in the fact that Cincinnati brought in Ja'Marr Chase with the fifth pick overall in the draft pushes Boyd to the No. 3 receiver in the passing game pecking order. Cincinnati is also counting on Burrow to bounce back from his ACL injury which is not guaranteed.
Bottom Line
Boyd is still in his prime and we still think he will put up numbers that will help fantasy teams. However, the younger receivers will be slightly higher in the rankings. Boyd will play the fantasy role of a WR3. But with that said, his ADP which has him going in the eighth or ninth round might make him a slight bargain if you can get him at the spot. 90 receptions and over 900 receiving yards should be where Boyd ends up in 2021.
