Scouting report

MIA RB De'Von Achane - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Cleveland Browns

Without Jaylen Waddle, Achane was relied on heavily in both the run and passing games. He had 17 carries and 7 targets, which he turned into 120 rushing yards, 6 catches for 70 yards, and 1 total touchdown. It was an alpha game for Achane, something we've seen developing all season.

The Browns are 7th aFPA against running backs, but you also need to take into account that Achane is essentially the WR2. Achane checks in as the RB3 overall this week and should be locked into your lineup despite a tougher matchup.

MIA RB De'Von Achane - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. San Francisco 49ers

With De'Von Achane's role in the passing game, he's just going to have a massive ceiling every week. Given that Jaylen Waddle is doubtful and likely out this week, that should only increase as the Dolphins work in Malik Washington and River Cracraft to fill in for Waddle.

The 49ers are 20th aFPA against running backs this season so it is a positive matchup for Achane and the Dolphins running game. He'll need to have a decent day on the ground to help stabilize the Dolphins' offense. Achane checks in as RB7 this week and is an easy start this week as he'll serve as the RB1 and WR2 this week for the Dolphins.

MIA RB De'Von Achane - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Houston Texans

Raheem Mostert is back this week, but not sure that is enough to dissuade you from locking in De'Von Achane. He continues to operate as the RB1, but with the ascension of Jaylen Waddle the last few weeks, Achane is operating as more of the third option in the target tree. That said, he's a solid play every single week.

While the matchup is difficult on the ground, Houston is 3rd aFPA against running backs, Achane's ceiling comes from his role in the passing game. A difficult matchup on the ground shouldn't scare you off from the RB8 this week. He's an easy start.

MIA RB De'Von Achane - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs New York Jets

As long as Tua Tagovailoa is in the lineup, De'Von Achane is a must-start. He doesn't even need to get much done on the ground for Achane to be in the RB1 overall conversation given week. Achane continues to operate as the RB1 and WR2 each week for Miami.

The Jets are 16th aFPA against running backs, but given Achane's involvement in the passing game it doesn't matter if he doesn't get a ton of carries. He continues to be a must-start and at RB3 in projections, remains in the RB1 overall conversation.

MIA RB De'Von Achane - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Green Bay Packers

For the first time this season, I'm only going to be writing up one Miami Dolphins running back as De'Von Achane has essentially iced Jaylen Wright and Raheem Mostert out of any potential 1B role. This is Achane's backfield, officially.

The best way to attack the Packers' defense is on the ground as they are 10th aFPA against running backs. However, they have given up big games to backs at times this year and Achane may be their best hope on Thanksgiving. Achane is RB4 on the week and he'll have to play like it for the Dolphins to have a chance to continue to save their season.

MIA RB De'Von Achane - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. New England Patriots

The role continues to be great for De'Von Achane in this Dolphins offense as he's put some serious daylight between him and the rest of the backfield. Whereas it was a 1A/1B situation with Raheem Mostert last year, it is not that this year. He has the full workhorse role.

The matchup is great, as New England is 26th aFPA against running backs, and that puts Achane in the RB1 overall conversation again this week. Whether it is on the ground on through the air, Achane should be able to put up fantasy points against the Patriots. Start him confidently.

MIA RB De'Von Achane - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Las Vegas Raiders

I don't think we'll have to worry about Raheem Mostert taking over a larger role in the offense from De'Von Achane anytime soon. Jaylen Wright? Well, time will tell, but for now, Achane is the clear lead back and is still getting targeted heavily in the passing game. His 5 targets last week against the Rams were second on the team and continue a theme where Achane continues to see WR2 targets.

The Dolphins get the Raiders this week and Achane gets a dream matchup as Las Vegas is 29th aFPA against running backs. The matchup is great and the role looks great as Achane continues to dominate the backfield, Achane is a high-end RB1 this week and a must-start.
