Scouting report

BUF WR Keon Coleman - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 @ Detroit Lions
Keon Coleman had been growing nicely into the deep-threat role, particularly over the two weeks prior to his injury, as he had turned nine catches into 195 yards as the WR room has begun to flesh out with the addition of Amari Cooper. We should have pretty clear roles for the 3WR set of the Bills heading into this potential shootout in Detroit, but Josh Allen is more than willing to spread the ball out (or take off with the ball himself), which makes projecting the target share a little shaky.

Consider Coleman a boom/bust WR4 option in Week 15.

BUF WR Keon Coleman - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 @ Los Angeles Rams
Keon Coleman had been growing nicely into the deep-threat role, particularly over the two weeks prior to his injury, as he had turned nine catches into 195 yards as the WR room has begun to flesh out with the addition of Amari Cooper. As Cooper integrates more into the offense, it could come at the expense of Coleman, but he should remain an interesting option as a WR4 upon his return.

BUF WR Keon Coleman - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Miami Dolphins
Keon Coleman is growing nicely into the deep-threat role, particularly over the last two weeks, as he has turned nine catches into 195 yards as the WR room has begun to flesh out with the addition of Amari Cooper. As Cooper integrates more into the offense, it could come at the expense of Coleman, but he should remain an interesting option as a WR3, even in a more difficult matchup against the Dolphins in Week 9.

BUF WR Keon Coleman - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 @ Houston Texans
Keon Coleman has predictably struggled to see consistent production, but that was always an issue considering his collegiate profile. Things could look a little better here in Week 5 with Khalil Shakir missing, but the extra work is just as likely to get spread out to the other Bills' options. He makes for a fine desperation Flex for managers who are lacking in options.

BUF WR Keon Coleman - 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
With the loss of both Gabe Davis and Stefon Diggs over the offseason, there are a lot of missing targets in Buffalo. This clears the way for Keon Coleman, the 33rd overall pick of the NFL Draft, to see a large role right off the bat. Teammates Khalil Shakir and Curtis Samuel have never taken over as a team's No. 1 receiving option, so the inexperience of Coleman shouldn't be overshadowed by the more experienced players.

Fantasy Downside
Coleman is a raw prospect coming out of college, exhibiting a large catch radius but had issues working against press coverage and showcased a limited route tree. This puts his ability to line up as the X as a team's WR1 as a rookie into question. While he would make sense as a big-bodied slot receiver, Khalil Shakir and Curtis Samuel also operate out of the slot, with Shakir in particular taking 77.3% of his snaps from the inside. The path to immediate production is murky for the rookie.

2024 Bottom Line
Keon Coleman was initially boosted in ADP as fantasy drafters considered the missing targets from 2023, but as more people looked into his profile, that ADP has dropped. He's still going in the 8th-9th round on a lot of platforms, and that feels too high for a player who isn't likely to see consistent production as he learns on the job.
