Fantasy Upside
At worst, Pat Freiermuth is likely the third option in the pecking order for targets. More likely, he's the second option in Pittsburgh behind only George Pickens. There have been nothing but positive reports about Freiermuth health-wise and on the field so far this spring and summer. As long as he's been healthy he has been productive in his NFL career.
Fantasy Downside
Like the other Steelers' offensive options, Freiermuth is at the whims of Arthur Smith. A man who drafted a tight end, wide receiver, and running back in three consecutive first rounds and found new and creative ways to not use them each year. In what will be one of the lowest passing volume offenses in the league, any additional rotation at tight end would put Freiermuth's TE15 ADP in serious jeopardy of being a bust.
2024 Bottom Line
At the end of the day, you're either going to see the lack of competition and see opportunity with a talented player. Or, you see what Arthur Smith and Russell Wilson have done recently and think TE15 is a bit too rich. Personally, I favor the side that sees him as the second option in the passing game and he could outperform his TE15 ADP.
