Scouting report

PIT RB Najee Harris - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Steelers have committed to running the football so Najee Harris is getting carries. His results have been mixed, but he did finally score a touchdown last Sunday. His yards per carry have been a problem and that has opened the door for Jaylen Warren to get more carries.

Harris will face Jacksonville who is ranked sixth in aFPA to running backs. We expect Pittsburgh to continue to get Harris 12-15 carries, but he isn't really involved in the passing game so he is a better play in standard leagues.

Start Harris as a high-end RB3 or Flex for Week 8. With the the unfavorable matchup, managers will have to count on the heavy volume to get him enough fantasy numbers to warrant the start.

PIT RB Najee Harris - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Los Angeles Rams
Najee Harris has gotten a minimum of 15 touches in each of the last three games which tells us the Steelers haven't given up on him. His numbers haven't been great and there are whispers that backup Jaylen Warren should get more time.

Harris faces the Rams who are ranked 2nd in aFPA to running backs. So, it won't get any easier this week coming off the bye against Aaron Donald and company.

We still expect Harris to get enough touches to be a factor. Start him as a high-end RB3 or Flex for Week 7.

PIT RB Najee Harris - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Baltimore Ravens
Najee Harris had his best game of the season with over 100 total yards from scrimmage. He carried the ball 14 times for a season-high 71 yards and 5.1 yards per carry. He is still looking for his first touchdown of the season. There are plenty of questions about the Steelers offense, but Harris looked good for at least one game.

The Steelers face the Ravens who are ranked 21st in aFPA to running backs. Expect this to be a physical game like they all are in this series. Harris did rush for his only 100-yard game last season against Baltimore.

Harris should still get touches, but his production will not be as good as it was in Houston. Start him as a solid RB3 or Flex for Week 5. Don't trust the Steelers offense to let him be productive.

PIT RB Najee Harris - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Houston Texans
Najee Harris' carries have increased each week. He had 19 last Sunday and although the rushing yards were only 65, it is progress for him. The Steelers want to run the ball and that will keep Harris fantasy relevant.

The Texans are ranked 28th in aFPA to running backs. That should lead to a big day for Harris. However, it is still questionable whether Pittsburgh can be successful running the ball even if they are committed.

Harris only ranks as a high-end RB3 for Week 4. Normally with this matchup you might expect higher, but it hasn't been easy yet for the Steelers so far this season.

PIT RB Najee Harris - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Las Vegas Raiders
Najee Harris and the Steelers run game have struggled early. He ended up with 10 carries last Monday which was better than Week 1, but his overall numbers are not good with only 74 rushing yards in the two games.

Harris will face a bad Raiders run defense so if they Steelers can get him more touches, he could be a surprise this Sunday night.

Start Harris as a high-end RB3 or Flex. We are still not sold on the Steelers offense in general and Jaylen Warren is waiting in the wings to get more opportunities at running back.

PIT RB Najee Harris - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Cleveland Browns
It was not a great start for Najee Harris, but part of that was the Steelers offense putting themselves in a hole. He ended up with only eight touches for 33 yards and 22 of those came on one run. The good news is the Steelers cannot give Harris that few touches and they know it.

The bad news is they will play another tough defense. The Browns were outstanding last week against the Bengals. Harris had two solid games against Cleveland last season which included two touchdown runs.

Start Harris as a high-end RB3 or Flex for Week 2. If he doesn't get the touches, it will be similar to Week 1, but we expect him to be closer to 12-15 carries this week which gives him some fantasy value.

PIT RB Najee Harris - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. San Francisco 49ers
The Steelers offense will be committed to the run which is good news for managers that drafted Najee Harris. Although he wasn't drafted like an RB1 this season like he was in 2022, he could get to that level if Pittsburgh's offense improves, as expected.

Harris will have a tough time in the opener in against the Niners who had one of the best run defenses in the NFL. The Steelers will still try to run the football with their revamped line so the touches should be there.

Harris rates as a low-end RB2 for Week 1. This is mainly because of the matchup as he should have production most weeks. Just not this week.
