Fantasy Upside
Najee Harris will continue to be the workhorse in the Steelers running game and there is plenty of reason for optimism. Pittsburgh has made a concerted effort to improve the offensive line including investing their first-round pick in tackle Broderick Jones. Harris and the offense as a whole will benefit from this addition. Another factor is Harris' health which was not good entering the 2022 season. His fantasy numbers the second half of the season after Week 9 made him a RB1 and were much better than his early season production where he was a RB3.
Fantasy Downside
Harris was one of the most inefficient running backs overall in the NFL last season after a strong rookie campaign. Although his second half numbers helped him, he was 31st of 33 qualifying running backs in yards per attempt and 27th of 33 in yards after contact.
2023 Bottom Line
The second half of the season should be an indicator that Harris should at least return to his rookie level production, although there is plenty of room to be even better. He currently is the No. 13 ranked running back in the preseason which means if you get him as your second running back, you will have drafted well. His ADP dictates him as an early third round pick so anyone with a pick in the upper half of their draft order will have a good chance to snag him and he will be good value as long as he is healthy.
