Scouting report

PIT RB Najee Harris - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. New Orleans Saints
Najee Harris had 14 touches for 58 yards but a lot of that came in the passing game. It's been a struggle for the second-year back who is seeing his playing time and touches go backwards for a Steelers team that is struggling on offense as a whole.

Harris will face the Saints who are ranked 18th in aFPA to running backs. One concern is that rookie Jaylen Warren will start to get more playing time although we have to see that first.

Start Harris as a low-end RB2 for Week 10. Pittsburgh's offense will still try to run the ball so we think Harris will have value. However, if his snaps fall to under 60%, there he might end up being one of the biggest fantasy busts this season.

PIT RB Najee Harris - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Philadelphia Eagles
Najee Harris had his most productive game of 2022 which isn't saying much as he has been pretty much a fantasy disappointment so far. He did reach 20 touches last week for the second time this season and had a total of 80 yards. Maybe he is coming out of his funk or maybe he is getting healthy.

Harris will face the Eagles who are ranked 12th in aFPA to running backs. We will see if the Steelers keep him as the focus of the offense as we saw on a regular basis in 2021.

At this point, we aren't convinced Harris is totally back so he ranks a low-end RB2 for Week 8. If he strings together a couple more 20+ touch games, his stock will rise although maybe not to the RB1 status he had in the preseason.

PIT RB Najee Harris - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Miami Dolphins
Najee Harris had 16 touches for 49 yards as his sophomore slump continues. He is averaging only 3.2 yards per carry and 44 rushing yards per game. He did score a receiving touchdown for the second time this season, but still only has one rushing score in 2022.

Harris will face the Dolphins who are ranked 25th in aFPA to running backs. It would be a good game to get him going but the Steelers' offensive struggles will probably continue.

Start Harris as a low-end RB2 for Week 7. The favorable matchup gives Harris a chance to have a good game if Pittsburgh can get him 20 or more touches.

PIT RB Najee Harris - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Najee Harris' stock has dropped in recent weeks and now the Steelers have indicated they will got with rookie Jaylen Warren on third downs. A first-round draft pick and consensus first-round fantasy draft pick has only had one game so far in 2022 where he had 20+ touches. Last year, he did that 10 times.

Harris faces a tough Tampa defense which ranks 2nd in aFPA to running backs. This is probably not the game for him to get healthy.

Harris is only rated a high-end RB3 or Flex for Week 6. The chances he gets to 20 touches with now being a two-down back are minimized. The one thing that will help him is if QB Kenny Pickett makes the offense better.

PIT RB Najee Harris - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Buffalo Bills
Najee Harris didn't reach the 20 touch mark for the third time in four games. His production was okay with 74 rushing yards, his highest total of 2022. However, he has not been nearly as involved in the passing game. Maybe that will change with Kenny Pickett now at quarterback.

Harris faces the Bills who are ranked 23rd in aFPA to running backs. The Steelers offense has been pretty awful this season and a quarterback change won't solve other issues.

Many drafted Harris as an RB1 but for Week 5 he only ranks a high-end RB3 or flex. Even if the touches go up, the Pittsburgh offense needs to improve for him to climb back up the fantasy ladder.

PIT RB Najee Harris - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. New York Jets
Najee Harris carried the ball 15 times for the second straight week which produced 56 rushing yards. However, he was quiet in the passing game where he ended up with only one reception. So 16 touches isn't enough for a talent like Harris. He should have had at least 20. The Steelers offense is sputtering right now so maybe it won't matter, but touches will definitely help.

The Steelers face the Jets who are ranked 25th in aFPA to running backs. This would be a good week for Harris to break out with a favorable matchup at home. It's up to offensive coordinator Matt Canada to find ways to get him the ball.

Start Harris but only as a low-end RB1. His 2022 is off to a disappointing start from a fantasy standpoint with an average of less than 60 yards of total offense per game. The plus side is he does have two touchdowns in three games.

PIT RB Najee Harris - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Cleveland Browns
The problem we are seeing with Najee Harris is two-fold. He isn't get the touches we expected and the Steelers' offense is as bad or worse than 2021. Pittsburgh has scored only two offensive touchdowns in two games. Harris has 32 touches which is low considering his talent level. It produced 115 yards of offense which is below what he needs as a first-round fantasy pick.

Harris faces the Browns who are ranked 17th in aFPA to running backs in 2022. Last year against Cleveland, he had 29 and 31 touches which produced 326 yards of offense and two touchdowns.

Going by those numbers you would think he would be a good play for Week 2, but the Steelers' offensive woes are dampening any expectations to get to that level. Start Harris this Thursday as a high-end RB2 and hope they get him similar touches as last season against Cleveland.
