CAR RB Chuba Hubbard - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Chuba Hubbard may benefit from the trade of Christian McCaffrey to the 49ers, but he has a tough matchup against the Buccaneers this week and he was pretty underwhelming as a starter a year ago when McCaffrey was hurt. Expect more D'Onta Foreman, and fantasy managers should steer clear from using anyone in this backfield until we see how the carries are going to shake out. He's definitely worth a speculative roster add, however.

CAR RB Chuba Hubbard - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at New Orleans Saints

Chuba Hubbard led the backfield with six carries last week but he was held to just nine yards and has another tough matchup against the Saints on the docket. Look away from the Panthers’ running game this week and likely for the rest of the season, as Hubbard isn’t producing and doesn’t catch enough passes to make up for his inefficiencies on the ground. Sit him.

CAR RB Chuba Hubbard - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Chuba Hubbard really struggled last week against the Bills, rushing for 40 yards on just eight carries. He was out-snapped by Ameer Abdullah, so his seemingly cozy floor has now diminished. Against an above-average Buccaneers defense that ranks 14th in aFPA to opposing running backs, and with questions regarding his workload, keep him on the bench for Week 16.

CAR RB Chuba Hubbard - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Buffalo Bills

Chuba Hubbard had 10 carries for 33 yards and a touchdown last week against the Falcons. It was nice to see him get in, but if you take out his 17-yard touchdown run, you end up with just nine carries for 16 yards. Hubbard has been a borderline RB2 option in the games Christian McCaffrey has been out, but with the struggling Carolina offense, the vulture factor of Cam Newton and the terrible offensive line, it’s hard to think Hubbard has a very high ceiling.

This week, Hubbard faces a Bills defense that ranks 19th in aFPA to opposing running backs. The Panthers aren’t an offense you want to bank on for the rest of the season, and Hubbard is no exception. With Newton vulturing touchdowns on the regular, it limits Hubbard’s upside. Still, with his workload, he has flex potential. Just don’t expect much.

CAR RB Chuba Hubbard - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Atlanta Falcons

Chuba Hubbard resumes his role as the lead back with Christian McCaffrey now shelved for the rest of the season. Hubbard put up fringe RB2 numbers in this role earlier in the year, but this offense looks like a mess. Hubbard is worth rostering and considering due to his role, but temper expectations on a team with woeful problems at quarterback and along the offensive line.

This week, Hubbard faces a Falcons defense that ranks 27th in aFPA to opposing running backs. It’s a great matchup, but concerns over Ameer Abdullah stealing passing down work shift Hubbard just outside of legit RB2 consideration. We have him ranked as a fringe RB2 or solid flex option this week.

CAR RB Chuba Hubbard - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Arizona Cardinals

While it was good to see Chuba Hubbard catch a 33-yard pass last week against the Patriots, his two targets and four total touches don’t inspire confidence in his prospects while Christian McCaffrey is back in the fold. Keep him rostered in case McCaffrey gets shelved again, but he’s firmly a handcuff and should be nowhere near lineups while McCaffrey is active.

CAR RB Chuba Hubbard - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. New England Patriots

Chuba Hubbard had an early fumble against the Falcons last week, but rebounded with 82 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries. He also added a nine-yard reception as the Falcons won a key divisional matchup to snap a four-game losing streak. Hubbard has averaged 17.8 carries per game while Christian McCaffrey has been out, giving him a nice floor to work with while McCaffrey mends.

If McCaffrey is out again, Hubbard should be worth considering as a solid RB2 against a Patriots defense that ranks 17th in aFPA to opposing running backs. Watch that injury report though, because McCaffrey is set to practice and may be active after missing the last five games.
