Week 10 at Los Angeles Rams
It turns out, Mike McDaniel wasn't kidding about his comments in the preseason about excitement for Jonnu Smith. Even with both receivers healthy and Tua Tagovailoa back, Smith was second in targets last week (6) behind only De'Von Achane (8). His role looks solid right now as a lot of the underneath work is going to him instead of Jaylen Waddle. Does it continue that way? We'll see.
The matchup against the Rams is a great one as they are 23rd aFPA against tight ends this season. Smith's role seems secure, for now, and the positive matchup and the role signal a TE1 this week. He's towards the back end of TE1's, but he's startable in all formats.
