The Training Room
Player | Position | Team | Injury | Timetable For Recovery | Potential Pickup | Comments |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Aaron Rodgers | QB | Packers | Broken Collarbone | At least 8 weeks, if not longer. | Brett Hundley | Rodgers was driven into the ground and landed directly onto his right shoulder which cause the fracture. We'll figure out over the next |
Jameis Winston | QB | Buccaneers | Sprained Shoulder | EXPECTED TO START | Ryan FItzpatrick | After sitting out practice early in the week, Winston was able to practice in a limited |
Keenan Allen | WR | Chargers | Sprained Shoulder | EXPECTED TO START SUNDAY | Mike Williams | Allen suffered a late week shoulder injury that put his status in doubt for Week 7. However, it looks like he's going to try and play through the injury. The Chargers face the Broncos, so it's not a great matchup for Allen, but I'd play him as you normally would. |
Andre Ellington | RB | Cardinals | Strained Quadriceps | NOT EXPECTED TO PLAY SUNDAY | Adrian Peterson, Kerwynn Williams | Ellington missed practice all week and is not expected to play Sunday. I'd keep an eye on his status for next week as well as he's not a guarantee to be available if he continues to struggle with the quad injury. |
Kelvin Benjamin | WR | Panthers | Strained knee | EXPECTED TO PLAY SUNDAY | Devin Funchess | Benjamin suffered some increased swelling in his knee during the week, but returned to full practice participation Friday. Adam Schefter reports that Benjamin is expected to play Sunday, so start him as you normally would. |
Demarco Murray | RB | Titans | Strained Hamstring | EXPECTED TO PLAY SUNDAY | Derrick Henry | Murray's hamstring woes continues to linger, but the there is no plan to rest him at this point. Game flow and a Week 8 bye have Murray's status up in the air. Even though Adam Schefter reports that Murray will play, I wouldn't expect him to get his normal workload. |
Melvin Gordon | RB | Chargers | Sprained Shoulder | EXPECTED TO PLAY SUNDAY | Branden Oliver | Per Adam Schefter, Gordon is expected to play Sunday. He took limited practice reps all week to limit the irritation to his shoulder, so I would start him as you normally would. |
Delanie Walker | TE | Titans | Strained Calf | EXPECTED TO PLAY SUNDAY | Jonnu Smith | Walker missed practice Friday after being limited in practice all week, which is never a good sign. However, Adam Schefter states that Walker is going to play, which means you should start him against the Browns in a great matchup. |
Leonard Fournette | RB | Jaguars | Sprained Ankle | NOT EXPECTED TO PLAY SUNDAY | Chris Ivory | It sounds like the Jaguars are going to be cautious with their star rookie running back and hold him out this week with their Week 8 bye coming up as well. Fournette likely could play, but the Jaguars will reduce any risk of aggravation. |
Breshad Perriman | WR | Ravens | Concussion | DOUBTFUL TO PLAY | Chris Moore | Perriman still remains in the concussion protocol after the hit he sustained against the Bears. Look for him to return in Week 8. |
Emmanuel Sanders | WR | Broncos | Sprained Ankle, Possible Fracture | OUT FOR SUNDAY, 2-3 Weeks | Bennie Fowler, Jordan Taylor | Sanders took a low hit by Landon Collins as he was coming across the field. His right ankle immediately buckled and he reach for his right ankle right away in a lot of pain. He was carted off the field and wasn't able to put any weight on his leg, which is very concerning. We'll update his status when we hear more. |
Trevor Siemian | QB | Broncos | Sprained AC Joint, Non-Throwing Shoulder | EXPECTED TO PLAY | Paxton Lynch | Siemian was always expected to play even after suffering a left shoulder injury in Week 6. Start him as you normally would. |
Golden Tate | WR | Lions | Sprained AC Joint | OUT FOR SUNDAY, 2-4 Weeks | Marvin Jones | Tate is already expected to miss multiple weeks after an MRI revealed a sprained AC joint. The Lions have a bye Week 7, but it sounds like Tate could potentially be out till November based on their findings. |
Robert Turbin | RB | Colts | Dislocated Elbow | Placed on IR | Marlon Mack | Turbin was placed on IR due to the elbow injury he sustained in Week 6. Turbin will likely be out for the season after suffering the injury. Marlon Mack should see more touches moving forward. |
Wondering when a player is going to return from either an injury or a suspension? See below for our On The Radar section, which goes over players that are recovering from an injury sustained in previous weeks and what their timetables are for returning to the field.
On The Radar
Player | Position | Team | Injury | Timetable For Recovery | Potential Pickup | Comments |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Jeremy Maclin | WR | Ravens | Sprained Shoulder | EXPECTED TO PLAY SUNDAY | Chris Moore | Maclin still doesn't seem to be 100% heading into Week 7, but he will try and play through the discomfort. With the Ravens having many skilled players dealing with injuries, this should provide a boost for their offense. |
C.J. Prosise | RB | Seahawks | Sprained Ankle | NOT EXPECTED TO PLAY SUNDAY | J.D. McKissic | Ian Rapoport is stating Prosise is likely another week away before returning from his ankle injury. McKissic will fill in on passing downs with Rawls/Lacy continuing to share the workload on early downs. |
Stefon Diggs | WR | Vikings | Strained Groin | NOT EXPECTED TO PLAY SUNDAY | Laquon Treadwell | Diggs continues to be sidelined with a groin strain. He was limited to only side work on Friday, so he's trending in the right direction, but there's no guarantee that he'll be ready for Week 8. |
Sterling Shepard | WR | Giants | Sprained Ankle | EXPECTED TO PLAY SUNDAY | Roger Lewis | Shepard only misses a week with an ankle injury and becomes the Giants top option at the wide receiver position. I wouldn't expect too much restrictions with his ankle. |
Sam Bradford | QB | Vikings | Knee Bone Bruise | 4-6 Weeks | Case Keenum, Teddy Bridgewater | Bradford remains out indefinitely as he tries to get his knee pain under control. He's been going through different types of treatment to try and expedite the healing process, but cartilage issues take longer to recover due to the poor blood circulation it has. I wouldn't expect Bradford back for at least another few weeks. |
Terrance West | RB | Ravens | Strained Calf | NOT EXPECTED TO PLAY SUNDAY, 1-2 Weeks | Alex Collins | West remains sidelined with a calf strain and hasn't shown much progress that could indicate he's close ot returning. Still consider him week to week with Buck Allen and Alex Collins splitting the workload. |
Kenny Golladay | WR | Lions | Strained Hamstring | Week to Week | Marvin Jones | Golladay continues to be sidelined with a hamstring injury, but with the Lions on a bye week, there's a good chance he plays Week 8. We'll update his status next week to see where he stands. |
Bilal Powell | RB | Jets | Strained Calf | EXPECTED TO PLAY SUNDAY | Elijah McGuire | Powell returned to full practice participation this week and will split carries with Matt Forte. |
Jordan Matthews | WR | Bills | Thumb Surgery | EXPECTED TO PLAY SUNDAY | Zay Jones | Matthews is ahead of his recovery timetable, and it seems like the Bills are desparted for playmakers on the offensive side of the ball. Matthews will wear a special glove to held reduce the strain on his hand, but expect the Bills to use him as they normally would. |
DeVante Parker | WR | Dolphins | Sprained Ankle | NOT EXPECTED TO PLAY SUNDAY, Week to Week | Kenny Stills | Parker has yet to return to practice since injury. Although he states that he is feeling much better, he'll need to start practicing to feel confident that he's close to returning. Consider him week to week. |
Corey Davis | WR | Titans | Strained Hamstring | 1-2 Weeks | Rishard Mathews | Davis remains sidelined with a hamstring strain. There's a possibility that the Titans hold out Davis until after the Week 8 bye to make sure he's as close to 100% as possible before returning. |
Rex Burkhead | RB | Patriots | Rib Injury | EXPECTED TO PLAY SUNDAY | Dion Lewis | Burkhead was a full participant this week for the Patriots and is looking to finallly return to the field Week 7 against the Falcons. His return further makes the running back situation murky for fantasy owners. |
John Ross | WR | Bengals | Sprained Knee | NOT EXPECTED TO PLAY SUNDAY | Brandon LaFell | Ross took full practice reps on Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game. However, Ian Rapoport is reporting that Ross will not be playing this Sunday. Week 8 is likely the return of Ross. |
Rob Kelley | RB | Redskins | Sprained Ankle | EXPECTED TO PLAY MONDAY | Samaje Perine | Kelley returns from an ankle injury that sidelined him the past few weeks. He returned to limited practice reps this week, but he'll be the starting running back for Monday against the Eagles. I wouldn't expect too much of a restriction on Kelley. |
Mohamed Sanu | WR | Falcons | Strained Hamstring | EXPECTED TO PLAY SUNDAY | Taylor Gabriel | Sanu took limited practice reps all week and more importantly, was removed from the injury report. He'll returning against the Patriots Sunday night. |
Andrew Luck | QB | Colts | Shoulder Labral Repair | 3-4 Weeks | Jacoby Brissett | Luck suffered a setback with his rehab and needed a cortisone shot to calm down the irritation in his shoulder. Things are trending in the wrong direction for Luck, but the Colts are still hopeful he will return this year. |
David Johnson | RB | Cardinals | Wrist Surgery | 6-8 Weeks | Adrian Peterson | Thanksgiving is the earliest Johnson would return according to Coach Arians, which is still 6 weeks away. I'd expect him to be close to that timeline, but keep an eye on him status as he continues to rehab |
Greg Olsen | TE | Panthers | Foot Surgery | 6-8 Weeks | Ed Dickson |
