Fantasy football playoffs are upon us! Injuries at this point in time in the year can swing matchups in the fantasy playoffs, so knowing who's dealing with what injury becomes that much more important. Let's look at the latest news heading into Week 15 so that you can best prepare to maximize your opportunity to win!
Updated Wednesday 12/12/18
Player | Position | Team | Injury | Timetable For Recovery | Potential Pickup | Comments |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Ben Roethlisberger | QB | Steelers | Rib Injury | Expected to play Week 15 | Joshua Dobbs | Like we stated earlier in the week, the fact that he was able to return late last week was a good sign that he should be available this week, especially in a massive matchup against the Patriots. I would use him as you normally would. |
Carson Wentz | QB | Eagles | Low Back Injury | NOT EXPECTED TO PLAY WEEK 15 | Nick Foles | There wasn't much indication that Wentz was dealing with an injury after Sunday's game. However, as the week has unfolded, more news about his back continue to come out which has now put his season in doubt considering where the Eagles stand in the current playoff race. We should continue to get more information on what's going on, but the expectation is that Nick Foles will start for Wentz this week, which downgrades a lot of their offensive weapons. |
LeSean McCoy | RB | Bills | Strained Hamstring | Questionable for Week 15 | Chris Ivory, Marcus Murphy | Adam Schefter reports that even though McCoy was a limited participant all week, he is not expected to play Week 15 agaainst the Lions. See below for Chris Ivory's status. |
Chris Ivory | RB | Bills | Strained Shoulder | Questionable for Week 15 | Marcus Murphy | Ian Rapoport is reporting that although Ivory is listed questionable, he is not expected to play either like McCoy. The Bills are down to Marcus Murphy as their real only option to run the ball agains the Lions, which isn't overly enticing given the offensive line issues the Bills have had this year. |
Doug Baldwin | WR | Seahawks | Strained Hip | Questionable for Week 15 | David Moore, Tyler Lockett | Baldwin was able to practice all week in limited fashion and is expected to play as he confirmed that himself. |
Julio Jones | WR | Falcons | Illness | Expected to play Week 15 | Calvin Ridley, Mohamed Sanu | Jones was sent home due to illness later in the week, but all signs point to him being available for Week 15 for a matchup against Patrick Peterson and the Cardinals. Start him as you normally would. |
Dante Pettis | WR | 49ers | Sprained Ankle | Questionable, Expected to play Week 15 | Marquise Goodwin | Pettis was limited late in the week due to the ankle issue, but the expectation is that he will play against the Seahawks. Barring any setbacks before the game, he could provide some decent value especially if the 49ers are playing from behind. |
Odell Beckham | WR | Giants | Strained Quad | RULED OUT FOR WEEK 15 | Sterling Shepard, Evan Engram | Although Beckham returned to practice in limited fashion early in the week, it just sounds like Beckham isn't fully confident in being able to play at a high level without aggravating injury. Hopefully he'll continue to progress so that he could be ready come Week 16. |
DeSean Jackson | WR | Buccaneers | Sprained Thumb | RULED OUT FOR WEEK 15 | Adam Humphries, Chris Godwin | Jackson will sit another week due to the thumb/hand issues that he continues to experience. Catching the ball and grip strength on the ball make it difficult to do when dealing with a thumb issue so he'll miss another week in hopes to get healthier. |
Austin Hooper | TE | Falcons | Sprained Knee | Expected to play Week 15 | Eric Saubert | Hooper missed practice during the week but was able to get in a limited session on Friday, putting him on track to play against the Cardinals. |
T.Y. Hilton | WR | Colts | Sprained Ankle | Game Time Decision | Dontrelle Inman | Hilton has not practiced all week but yet is listed as questionable for Week 15. Not practicing all week does give us some cause for concern as the ankle is clearly bothering him, but I think Hilton could end up being active and either play limited snaps or be a decoy on the field. He plays at 1pm so we should know early in the day if you need to swap him out. |
James Conner | RB | Steelers | High Ankle Sprain | DOUBTFUL FOR WEEK 15 | Jaylen Samuels | High ankle sprains are usually multi-week injuries as the deceleration and cutting aspect of his position becomes the hardest thing to do without aggravating the injury. It sounds like the Steelers are targeting a potential Week 16 return, but he'll need to practice without setback before getting the green light. |
Matt Breida | RB | 49ers | Sprained Ankle | Expected to play Week 15 | Jeff Wilson | Adam Schefter reports that Breida is expected to return after attempting to let his ankle issues settle down. Seattle's defense has been on as of late, but Breida could serve to be a nice option if you are in need of a RB. |
Ryan Tannehill | QB | Dolphins | Sprained Foot | Expected to play Week 15 | Brock Osweiler | Tannehill has practiced in limited fashion this week and although his ankle has been heavily taped to help reduce the ankle pain, the expectation is that Tannehill will play through the injury. He'll try to keep the Dolphins playoff hopes alive as the they are set to face the Vikings. |
Jordan Reed | TE | Redskins | Sprained Foot | RULED OUT FOR WEEK 15 | Vernon Davis | This was the expectation all along and it was finally confirmed late in the week. Vernon Davis will step into Reed's spot, but with Josh Johnson as the QB, it's hard to feel confident in the Redskins offense as a whole. |
