Streaming Tight Ends: Week 4 Targets

Are you bummed with how your roster turned out in the tight end department, or perhaps you had streaming in mind when constructing your teams this draft season? Don’t forget that the Jets and 49ers have byes in Week 4, as well. No matter how you got here, I have you covered. As a strategy, streaming aims to find players with above-average matchups, which can hopefully translate to TE1 production for your fantasy squad.

For streaming purposes, 4for4’s Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed (aFPA) is a metric we rely heavily on to determine weekly matchup strength. As the season continues to progress and more data is available, aFPA becomes more and more reliable, using rolling 10-week data. Targets and efficiency metrics are also considered when choosing weekly streamers.

Will Dissly was my standout in Week 3, coming in as the fantasy TE6 on the week with 18.2 PPR points. Our goal in all this is starting tight end results and after three weeks, 4for4’s optimal streamer has scored 38.1 PPR points, which equates to TE9 numbers on the season.

Jack Doyle (Colts) vs. Raiders

Doyle and Eric Ebron have had similar target action so far in 2019, with Doyle averaging 3.0 balls per contest to Ebron’s 3.7. Where they differ is in snap counts, as Doyle has been on the field for a nice 69% of the snaps, with the former Lion only out there on 49% of Indy’s plays.

This week, Doyle gets a home tilt against a Raiders defense that allowed Travis Kelce to post 23.7 PPR points in Week 2 and rank 25th in TE aFPA on the season. The split will still be a thing moving forward, but Doyle at just 19% rostership qualifies as a streamer, while Ebron is still owned by 65% of Yahoo! managers.
