DFS Strategy for UFC 296: Edwards vs Covington
The final UFC card of the year looks to be a good one with two title fights. Leon Edwards faces off against Colby Covington in his second defense of the welterweight title. Alexandre Pantoja makes his first title defense against a fighter he has already beaten in Brandon Royval. With two five-round affairs, there will be many options to construct cash games and head-to-head lineups. Let’s take a look at the fights we are targeting.
Premium Plays ($9000 and Above)
Shavkat Rakhmonov $9700
Shavkat Rakhmonov is undefeated with a 100% finish rate. He absolutely has championship skills and warrants consideration even at this price. There is cause for concern due to the karate style of Thompson being hard to train for. Wonderboy does a great job of managing distance with his in-and-out kicking style. It can be hard to control Thompson and force him to the ground but Rakhmonov has the ability to do so. Rakhmonov will be the better grappler and has shown the chin to walk through strikes as he stalks his opponents. Thompson has traditionally been a point fighter and until someone shows the ability to beat Rakhmonov he should be considered for lineups.
