: Odell Beckham
According to a report by NJ Advance Media, Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is expected to play against the Eagles on Monday night, despite suffering from a hamstring injury he suffered last week.
Although you never want a player to be injured, there is no denying that the Eagles wouldn't have minded Beckham taking an extra week to rest his injured hamstring, especially given the importance of Monday night's game.
Obviously, with any hamstring injury, Beckham's status will be worth monitoring throughout the game. Especially with a player like Beckham, who is one of the fastest receivers in the NFL, a hamstring injury could seriously impact his ability on Monday night.
Beckham will come with risks if he's inserted into fantasy lineups, but at this point he's probably worth those risks. We'll likely hear a lot more grumblings about his status leading up to the game, and of course we'll know for sure when the inactives come out around 7 p.m. eastern time Monday.
GIANTS VS. EAGLES

CB Prince Amukamara (pectoral), WR Victor Cruz (calf), LB Devon Kennard (hamstring)
QUESTIONABLE
DE Robert Ayers (hamstring), LB Jon Beason (concussion), WR Odell Beckham (hamstring), LB Jonathan Casillas (calf), CB Trumaine McBride (groin, illness)
PROBABLE
G Justin Pugh (ankle), WR Rueben Randle (hamstring), DE George Selvie (calf)
EAGLES
OUT
WR Nelson Agholor (ankle), LB Kiko Alonso (knee), DE Brandon Bair (groin), LB Mychal Kendricks (hamstring)
QUESTIONABLE
RB Ryan Mathews (groin)
Odell Beckham didn't practice this week but is listed as questionable so his status is in doubt for Week 6. The team says he's coming along, however, and indications this week have been he's got a chance to play, but it's a situation to monitor especially since Beckham didn't practice. Rueben Randle is listed as probable so he could be a nice backup option for Beckham owners who are planning to wait it out. For the Eagles, Nelson Agholor is out. Agholor plays on a lot of snaps so it's a chance for Riley Cooper and Miles Austin to get more chances. Ryan Mathews is also questionable and that could be good news for owners of DeMarco Murray and Darren Sproles who would see more time if Mathews is limited our unable to play.

Giants WR Odell Beckham (hamstring) missed practice again Friday. Beckham is considered “day to day” as he races to get healthy for Week 6. Since he played through the injury last week, we currently expect him to play, but owners should have a Plan B ready. He was moving “well, freely and without discomfort” on Thursday, per beat writer Jordan Raanan. Backup MNF options include Dwayne Harris, Josh Huff and Riley Cooper. HC Tom Coughlin said that Beckham is capable of playing without practicing during the week.
Giants quarterback Eli Manning spent an additional 30 minutes at the end of Thursday's practice throwing to running backs Shane Vereen and Rashad Jennings, who were lining up in wide receiver spots rather than in the backfield during the drill. With the Giants banged up at wide receiver -- Odell Beckham Jr. and Rueben Randle are nursing hamstring injuries, Victor Cruz is still out with a calf injury -- it's possible they could get creative in the ways they line up and use their backs.
Vereen's usage has been up and down this season. He had 12 catches in the first two games and then failed to register a catch (on just three targets) in Week 3 and Week 4. Then, against the 49ers, he caught eight balls for 86 yards and a touchdown in Week 5. Vereen should be a solid PPR start in Week 6, but he's not a consistent part of the passing game on a weekly basis. With Odell Beckham banged up, it sounds as if the Giants are preparing to use Vereen and Jennings at receiver.

Giants WR Rueben Randle (hamstring) took limited practice reps Thursday. Surprisingly, Randle returned to practice before Odell Beckham even though Beckham finished Week 5 and Randle didn’t. Randle could see a ton of targets if Beckham is sidelined, but it sounds as if Beckham will play.
Odell Beckham Jr. scored a touchdown late in the third quarter of the Giants' eventual 30-27 win over the 49ers here on Sunday night.
Then he celebrated by doing a dance before returning to the sideline - where he was promptly declared questionable with a hamstring injury, sending a shiver down the spine of Big Blue Nation, considering hamstring troubles - something Beckham himself said would always be in the back of his mind - caused him to miss the first four games of last season, and much of the team's offseason activities this spring.
"Ha, no," Beckham said when asked if he was injured during the dance. "It was like five or six plays before the touchdown. I just felt something, like a little bite. You know what it is when you've had something like that, you know the issues that it can cause. But it's just something, being out on the field with these guys. I'm just happy I was able to come back in the game and do something to help the team."
Beckham indicated he did not think the injury was that serious. But, he said, he will be cautious with it, and take advantage of the extra day of rest the Giants will have with their next game coming against the Eagles on Monday Night Football.
Beckham would end up returning to the game on the final drive, drawing a pass interference call downfield before quarterback Eli Manning hit tight end Larry Donnell for the game-winning score. In the locker room after the game, Beckham said he was "not worried" about the injury, and quickly put to rest any suggestions he suffered the injury while doing his dance. Rueben Randle also injured his hamstring but said he could have returned. Both injuries are worth monitoring this week because the game is on Monday night.
The expectations for Odell Beckham this season were alw...
The expectations for Odell Beckham this season were always absurd, and everybody knew it. No receiver had ever had the kind of start that he did in the NFL last season. It was insane to expect him to do it again.
But it wasn’t out of line to expect more out of Beckham than the Giants have gotten so far.
It’s not that he’s not playing well. He’s certainly still the best receiver on the team and one of the best in all of football. It’s just that heading into the Giants’ game Sunday night against the San Francisco 49ers, Beckham’s numbers and performance have seemed almost... normal. Last season, he seemed to alternate between being spectacular and superhuman. This season he’s seemed at times like he’s just one of the guys.
And the Giants sure wanted — and needed — a little more out of Beckham than that.
“I think, in general, we’ve haven’t been as clean (throwing to Beckham) outside the numbers as we’ve liked to be,” offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo said. “It’s not the quarterback. It’s not Odell. It’s just a combination of everything, and that’s something we’re working at right now to get better at."
The Buffalo Bills are calling New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. a "prima donna" and saying he threw punches at them during Sunday's game.
The Bills don't have to submit a formal complaint or accusation to the NFL about Beckham if they believe he threw punches. And for purposes of discipline, it doesn't matter that Beckham wasn't called for a penalty during the game. The NFL reviews every play of every game for the purposes of potential discipline, and based on that review, NFL VP of Football Operations Merton Hanks can issue a fine or even a suspension. The league acknowledges that its officials can't catch everything that goes on, so a play does not have to have been flagged for a penalty during the game in order to result in discipline.
The good news for owners, the story pointed out, is a suspension for Beckham is highly unlikely unless the league uncovers something truly egregious. Even then, history indicates that they would start with a series of escalating fines and only resort to suspension once the player has been warned and fined several times. But on-field fighting is an officiating point of emphasis this year, and players have been warned that they can be ejected for doing it.
The New York Giants brought in free agent running back Shane Vereen this offseason to fill a role. They wanted Vereen to add an element to the offense as a receiver out of the backfield on passing downs and in no-huddle situations. Through the Giants' first two games, Vereen has been the most explosive option on offense outside of Odell Beckham Jr., and it might be time for him to inherit a larger offensive role.
Through the first two weeks, Vereen is second to only Beckham in receiving yards on the Giants. He has 12 receptions for 122 yards receiving, and he has also added 33 yards rushing on nine carries. Vereen leads the Giants' running backs with 64 offensive snaps, but he has seen less than half of the offense's total snaps so far.
In the passing game, Vereen has been even more dynamic than the total receiving yards show. On his 12 receptions, he has forced a missed tackle by the defender six times. Several of Vereen's receptions have turned into first downs.
Having Vereen on the field instead of Rashad Jennings or Andre Williams gives the offense more options, the story said. The defense has to respect the run and the short pass out of the backfield. Also, the Giants can opt to go into their no-huddle offense at any moment and feel much more comfortable with Vereen back there. Vereen likely can't handle a bell cow workload, but getting a few more carries or snaps would certainly increase his fantasy value.
