Michael Lombardi of the National Football Post suggests that if he were the Seahawks GM he would look to bolster the team's RB situation by reuniting Thomas Jones with younger brother Julius Jones in Seattle. It's been well-documented that Thomas Jones is unhappy with his contract situation in New York. Lombardi proposes the Seahawks using WR Deion Branch as trade bait to get Thomas Jones from the Jets. Lombardi points out the Jets need a WR with Laveranues Coles now with Cincinnati, and suggests that the Seahawks could afford to part with Branch now that the team's receiving corps appears to have more depth with T.j. Houshmandzadeh and rookie Deon Butler in the fold. Lombardi also believes the Seahawks duo of Julius Jones and T.j. Duckett will not get it done in 2009. He says Julius Jones is too injury prone and Duckett doesn't have enough quickness to be effective in Greg Knapp's zone blocking system. While I respect Lombardi's opinion on league matters because of his experience with the NFL, I disagree with his assessment here. I don't believe Hawks GM Tim Ruskell is willing to give up on Branch yet, particularly after the way Branch played at the end of last season.
