Coming off his best season, legs still fresh and churning at 31, RB Thomas Jones had plenty of opportunities after becoming a free agent. He chose Kansas City, a team that already has RB Jamaal Charles, a star-on-the-rise back who ran for more than 1,000 yards as a part-timer last season and happens to be eight years younger than Jones.
A chance for competition, to possibly form one of football's best running-back tandems and return a moribund franchise to its power-running roots.
Jones' decision gives Kansas City a power-and-speed, youth-and-experience combination that could end up being the best in the AFC West, if not the NFL.
This is a nice piece about what to expect with the Chiefs and their rushing game with Charles and Jones. The line has been bolstered in hopes to be able to run the ball better. Charles looks like he'll be the workhouse with Jones as the change of pace for short yardage and maybe even the goal line. Charles appears to be dynamic enough to be able to find pay dirt from anywhere on the field which surely helps his fantasy status, and he'll be more of a threat in the passing game as well. Jones, right now, seems like a decent scoring league option.
