According to Mike Garofolo on Twitter, Chicago Bears running back David Montgomery is expecting to play against the Detroit Lions in Week 1.
Montgomery met with reporters on a zoom call and revealed that he did not do much in practice on Wednesday, stating: “I didn’t do much in practice yesterday. Wanna be safe.”. David Montgomery now appears to have a legitimate shot and being able to play in Week 1. He may see his workload scaled back a bit, but his presence in the lineup would be a boost for players like Mitch Trubisky, Allen Robinson, and Anthony Miller. He was listed as a full participant in Thursday's practice and should be able to start barring any setbacks. Montgomery is now our 29th ranked running back for Week 1.
